After watching the TV commercials for FREE lessons, I ordered one. I get it and find out they are going to charge me $89.00 for it. I'm sending it back, Scherers guarantee being "not satisfied for ANY reason, I will refund shipping and handling and send you $10.00" Now we'll see if he honors it or is a bald face liar.

VPI does not make unauthorized charges to customer credit card accounts. This is specifically verifyable because VPI records and archives each and every one of its telephone purchase transactions. If the identity of the poster is provided, the recording will reflect that the charges were authorized by this customer or that no such transaction ever occurred.

Same as pretty much everyone else, I ordered their "Learn HTML" 3CD set expecting only to pay shipping, and now I find out about their $90 fee.

I ordered Word. I tried it and decided to keep it. I was charged 89.95 plus 6.95 S+H. This was expected. What wasn't expected is that although I declined another offer I recieved Excel. Thinking it was advertising I threw it out. Today I received Internet and called the company. They say I will be charged 6.95 plus 89.95 for the Excel and if I don't return Internet (at my expense) in ten days I will be charged 6.95 plus 89.95 for that unsolicited CD too.

1. When a customer orders the 3-CD set under the 10-day review program, he is informed that he will continue to receive additional 3-CD sets approximately every 5 weeks until he calls to cancel. The additional sets are based on his indication to VPI of other CDs he would be interested in receiving. This can be verified by the recordings made of each purchase transaction. The booklet shipped with each set of CDs clearly explains how to cancel any additional shipments.
2. VPI does not charge its customer return postage when a customer returns unwanted CDs to VPI. Instead, a customer can request that a merchandise return label be sent to avoid return postage costs. |

Oh man. I am screwed. I ordered the video professor with an ink order thinking my mom could try this. Instead I find out later that there is a $90 charge on my dad's account. I was never told of this when I ordered my ink. I would never have ordered this if I had known. It was presented to me as a free gift along with a flashlight and some other gifts when I ordered the ink. This is seriously not cool. |

I ordered from video professor and paid the advertised price of $6.95 for the shipping. No problems there. About a month or so later I was charged $89.95 for the product I ordered, I guess. Nowhere did it state that charge would be made. I am very upset and want my money back!!

Video Professor is an absolute scam. I was charged the 6.95 shipping, and then my 89$ charge came almost a month after the fact. I too received 3 Cds instead of one quickbook CD. this is just ridiculous. filed a claim with my creditcard company and now I'm going to report them to the BBB and maybe press charges if i can find enough complaints. (which isnt too hard when the professor is an absolute scumbag committing random acts of deuchbaggery). |

Ordered Video Professor program HTML (3-disc set) for what I believed was a shipping charge of 6.95. Period. I received the set in a very timely matter, so far so good, then I get hit with a charge of 89.95, which had never been disclosed ... you can read their terms and conditions at videoprofessor.com ... amazing to me was that this 90 bucks was billed even before the 6.95 shipping fee I had agreed to. So, okay, live and learn. A few weeks after the HTLM product arrives, a FrontPage program that I didn't even order arrives what the %$#@, so I call and learn for the first time that I was enrolled in a program that would AUTOMATICALLY keep sending these $90 programs every month .. canceled on the spot. The program itself is very good, designed for people like me who are not very computer savvy ... the marketing and deceptive business practices, though, will prevent me from exploring future programs through this firm. If you want to start a "library" of computer programs, I'd say this might be the way to go, but be aware that that's what you're signing up for. Cheers! |

Video Professor has taught me never to order anything over the phone. They jack up the charges, as VP did, keep repeating them on your credit card and even try to bill you under different names and blame you that you must have given some other company your credit card number. I caught them on that one and told them I was reporting them for fraud to my credit card company. I did, the card company started the fraud investigation and took all the charges off my card except for the one cd I actually did order. I nearly puke every time I see the owner advertising his scam on TV. |

I am just like the others here. I took an online survey and was asked to choose my free gift. Just pay the shipping. It turns out that I recieved a cd and was billed 2 days later for 89.95, no trial period and I did not order that cd. then, next month, same thing. recived cd on the 16th but was billed on the 6th. I cant get a hold of anybody so I cancel my card and dispute charges. This company is the epitome of whats wrong with the country. ripping off middle income americans with no intervention from any government agency.

I agree with Serena. They never mentioned the $90 that they would charge to the credit card for more lessons. I am in the process of trying to send back the lessons for a full refund. But I am almost positive that I can kiss that money good-bye. At least they OFFER a refund. I ordered this "FREE" Ivory tooth whitening thing online and they sent me a free one. Well they also included the "90 day trial" as well. No big deal right? Until my credit card was charged an additional $75 nearly a month later. When I called they said I had gotten the 90-trail to try for 10 days. So I asked if I could return it and they told me they could not offer me a refund because it was past the 10 days. But I never asked for that 90-day trial in the first place!! Only the free trial.

They didn't tell me when i ordered that the lessons really cost $95 or i never would have ordered. That is not all either. When you open the inside of the booklet it says that they will keep sending lessons for $89.95 each. He says that "I am so confident.. that you will learn with my product.. if you are not satisfied simply return the cds and i will refund your shipping plus $10." He also says that WE will keep coming back to them NOT that they will keep on sending their junk to us for the same $90 each month. And did I mention, I have found the same HTML lessons online for FREE!!! That is a sucker scam and I hope that no one else will get into that mess

I like thousands of others request the free kit knowing shipping was not included. I provided my card for the postage and was NEVER informed of any other charge besides postage. I recorded the call like I do all others using [].. Next I received my package opened it and saw the bill for 70 dollars. After calling the 800 number on the collateral, and was on hold for 48 minutes, I hung up after my cell phone battery had died. I live in Colorado so I decided to drive to the office to take care of this. The old, dungeon like building VideoProfessor is in, smells of hell and the shiny haired sales representatives are abound. As soon as the receptionist noticed my package she very quickly escorted me outside and called security stating that I needed to following the simple instructions on the box. After playing the recording for my credit card company I was issued a refund. Thanks []. VP burn in hell. |

I completed an online survey and was asked to pick a "free" gift. I picked a Video Professor cd. I had expected to be charged for shipping and handling and I was. Very soon therafter, to my surprise, my credit card was charged $96.00. When I received the package, I sent it back unopened. That was four to five weeks ago. I wrote the company asking when my refund could be expected and have not received a response. I think this was irresponsible and misleading.

Briefly, I ordered a "free" Copy of video Professor for Quick Books to see if it was worth the time. The deal as I understood it was pay S&H $6.89 for the trial CD.It turned out to be not that helpful, I did not understand I was expected to return it. The next thing I knew I had an $ 89.00 charge and s&h charge of $6.89. After that another CD arrived that I had not ordered. I immediately sent it back but was charged another $89.oo plus a couple of s/&h charges. Whenn the third $89.00 charhe hit my AMEX I had had enough an called AMEX for help in stopping the charges. It is very possible I missed the terms and conditions, I don' think so but it is possible. But I certainly have not misunderstood the part about sending the unwanted product back and still being charged. This most definately is a scam.

I ordered a program on line from Video Professor for 4.95 shipping and handling for FrontPage - I did notsee anywhere on the advertisement that this was just for a trial of 10 days and then must be returned. Shortly thereafter I received another program which I returned immediately. When I received the charge card bill, there was a charge for $6.95 plus 89.95 for Frontpage plus another $4.95 for shipping for the tape returned! This is a defiite SCAM because there is nothing that says this is a 10 day trial!

Ordered for the "free" cds on Quickbooks. I saw a charge of $6.95 to my account. Soon after, there was another charge of $89 because I had not supposedly sent back the cds. A couple of days after this, there was another S&H handling charge and I knew it would soon be followed by an $89 charge for something I had never ordered for. Incredible! Why does the company not state clearly enough that "free" is actually free trials for their products? Why are they more interested in ripping off unsuspecting customers than providing an honest and genuine service for which a huge market exists? And how come no federal institution has not stepped in to arrest this unfortunate scam?

I signed up for one video at $6.95 (S/H) on the internet. There was a box checked asking if I agreed to receiving more videos to be charged to same card number in the future. I unchecked the box and "assumed" I would only receive the one. By the time I received the cd I had become ill and mail was not gone thru for almost a month. Of course the 10 day trial was up, which was not mentioned on the sign up form, but now I see it is, so my card was charged almost $80.00. Still being ill I did not open or use the cd at that time, and since I had unchecked the "ok to send more" box, I did not expect to receive anything else. Yet when the mail piled up again there was another video. At this point I am at fault for not sending it right back, but thought, I'm just to tired to fight it, I'll just pay it and be done with it. I got around to tring part of program but am just not ready to commit the time right now. In the meantime I just checked my online cc statement and there is another $6.95 charge. So, good grief, I guess I have another one on its way and I haven't fully gotten to the others yet! I'm going to refuse to accept and RTS. Think this guy is abusing our sign up rights to refuse future shipments? I will accept partial responsibility for not feeling like dealing with it when I should have, so shame on me 2 times, But...shame on him and his business in the first place for misleading advertising and ignoring "not ok to ship more". I'm feeling much better now and ready to take him on. If I get one more charge after telling him NO MORE well, the fight is on!!

2. The customer states that she “unchecked” a box on the online order page. The only box on the web page is a box that must be checked to order VPI CDs. If the box is not checked the user is unable to place an order. There is no box to check that indicates “ok to send more.”

This company and all of those who work there will undoubtably burn in Hell when this life is over. Especially "Curly" or should I say Mr. John Sherer. A most vain man to be certain. They thrive and depend upon the fact that most people will just give up on getting a few dollars back after a few attempts. One day they will make a major mistake and be scrutinized by the Federal Gov't. and their trickery and greed will put them all in bars. I smell that day in the air already. Mr. Sherer is evil and needs to be stopped. Doesn't the rich bastard have enough money yet? There is the vanity for lack of a more colourful word. Too many fine and trusting souls are harmed by their calculated actions. I have to turn the TV channel now anytime I see Mr. Egghead bragging about his "FREE" product. Notice the next time you see his infomercial, you will see a 6 point font at the bottom of the screen for a few seconds stating "SOME RESTRICTIONS MAY APPLY" when he announces the absolutely FREE product. The Feds should really look into that bogus statement. Excuse me, I have to vomit now. Oh! PS: I lost $69 plus change to these creatures because I mailed it back in 8 days but they said they received it in 12. They do not go by the postmark but the actual receipt of their crappy product.

If a customer fails to call within the first 10 days, VPI will nonetheless refund the customer if he calls within 30 days, and in most cases a refund will be made regardless of the length of time the customer has had the CDs. |

SCAM SCAM SCAM! Et caveat emptor! My story is a synopsis of the aforementioned complaints. Video Professor takes your credit card number and makes excessive, unwanted charges to it. There is no one who will give you an honest or direct answer. They do not have an ethical bone in their organizational body. Shame on them and pity on the poor souls who get sucked into their convoluted abyss.

i was trying to set up an account with vonage phone company,I was directed to another operater to recieve a free cd or dvd i assumed it was avonage related product.Incredibly I was now talking to video professor rep i was still under the impression this was a vonage related product and i needed it for my service after all it was free.now the vonage rep comes back on the line and says he cant help me with phone service.I asked about the dvd and they acted as if they did not know what i was talking about and asured me i would not be charged anything. Now the nightmare begins, after being told there would no charge or dvd i recieved the video professor cds in the mail.i did not call at that time because i assumed i had already cancelled this delivery.a second cd set arrived and i knew i was being ganked.I was declined on several credit card purchases so i looked up my account and found alot of money going to some company in colorado!once i found out it was video professor i sent them an email telling them to immediately stop charging my card.not only did they ignore my request they charged me another 75 dollars today and i was declined again because of these crooks.this comany specializes in shady practices, when they charge your card it could be 4 dollars or 70 depending on you balance otherwise they are always charging you account unti they get what they want.they have the ability to somehow be first in line to get your money before anyone else can it is almost as if your account is being charged 24 hours a day until they get the payment.i have an debit card if i add money to the account video proffesor has stolen it before i can get home from the bank!the only way to stop these monsters is to throw away my debit card!these people are scum bags they give all online businesses a bad name if people do not want your product do not force them to buy it.i have been financially raped by this so called company and i am livid ,but they will get away with because they know how to.

I ordered and payed for there excel tutorial. No where in the site did it tell me that I was going to have $6.59 taken from my account every month at their discretion. I didn't agree to that! I went to my back and shut down my visa check card so they wouldn't be able to keep taking my money. That appearantly did no good, they took the money again this month. I got one order and they keep charging and taking $6.95 out of my account. I am going to my bank and complain to them because they were informed I wanted no money taken by video professor. VPI does not make unauthorized charges to customer credit card accounts. For all Internet purchase transactions VPI archives the customer orders. If the identity of the poster is provided, the poster’s electronic order form will establish that the charges were authorized by this customer or that no such transaction ever occurred.
When a customer orders from VPI online, the order cannot be completed unless the customer clicks on the “How it Works” link on the VPI website. The How if Works page clearly explains the offer. It explains that the customer will receive 3 CDs and that if he does not want to pay he can return any one of the three and keep the other two CDs for a price of $6.95 shipping and processing. The customer is also told that approximately 5 weeks after the first CDs are received another lesson will automatically be sent for review.

The telephone solicitation said I would receive a $50.00 Wal-Mart gift card if I ordered the $75.00 package. I ordered and received the eBay training CD set. I had just been diagnosed with Prostate cancer, so I laid the package aside until after I had my cancer surgery. After my surgery, I called the designated 800 number (800-346-9618) as instructed to claim my $50.00 card. They informed me that I had only 10 days after receipt of the disks to claim my $50.00 card. There was never anything said about a 10 day requirement when they took my order by telephone. They refuse to consider my request to honor the $50.00 offer ... or to offer any other consideration. I think they have used deceptive sales practices by not making a full disclosure or offer an alternate "Free" gift. As a settlement I would like to have something of equal value. Last, I wonder if Wal-Mart is aware of what Video Professor is doing in their name? Thanks, Jim

I took a survey on line and was offered a choice of free gifts for my trouble. VP was the least of the evils at the time. In the meantime, we went on vacation in January,February and March. I now have a total of 6 lessons which I did not order and of course I was billed $79.95 plus shipping for each one. I spoke to someone at VP and supposedly, I will be receiving a refund plus shipping for 4 of the 6 lessons as long as I agree to the billing of the first 2. I'm also to keep all 6 videos which I do not want and was told to use them as birthday gifts or donate to my local library for a tax deduction.

Well, I had my "experience" with this outfit last year. Like several other victims who posted here, I also supposedly ordered a "free" CD. I actually never finished the ordering process (never authorized the payment), but that didn't bother them. Well, no CD ever came, but the monthly charges to my credit card kept on coming. I eventually noticed the recurring charges and disputed them, but it took several months of routinely disputing the charges and many attempts to reach "video professor" to finally get them to stop charging me and eventually at least some money back. Whatever happended to laws governing fraud, mailfraud etc.?? If any attorney out there wants to make a bundle of money and a good name for him/herself go file a class-action lawsuit against this outfit, I'll be on board. If any such lawyer out there exists, I would strongly suggest to ask for triple (punitive) damages, as the offenses were absolutely willful and "video professor" obviously was aware of the potential and possibly actual illegality of their actions. Just look at how many complaints and horror stories this site alone has!

I ordered windows to learn about my computer, I return the the nextlesson the way they say to, call the service number write a return number on the return address and would be charged for it and I cancelled them. I keep getting the videos and sending them back. I still get charged every month for what I return. this is now three months, last month my bank statement has five charges from them for 1.00 to 79.95, they total for over 2 hundred dollars. How many times are they going to get away with it.

When a customer calls VPI for a return authorization number, the customer’s status with VPI is automatically cancelled and no further CDs are sent to the customer. |

The "free" Video Professor disk came with an ink order. I was charged and they kept coming, I have cancelled my account with them, but I am still being charged $80.00 a month, with no product, I have to call my credit card company every month to dispute the charge, can you imagine how many people dont check the detail on their credit cards statements and pay this company.!!!!

About 2 years ago I also requested the "free" CD from video professor. All I had to do was pay the "modest" shipping costs of $6.95. If I didnt' like it I could just send it back which I did immediately. The CD I received was how to use Microsoft Word - a program I was already well familiar with so when I called I explained that I was more interest in the CD for Excel only. "No problem" said the way to perky customer representative. I never received the requested CD that was "no problem" and would return them one after another. Then one day my mom discovered a 69.95 PLUS the $6.95 shiping charge on her credit card every month so she contacted the Video Professor people and they said it was for the CD's they were sending me every month. I hadn't received anything from them for nearly 6 months and they were charging us for them. We explained that we hadn't been receiving their product and the stupid cow asked if we were enjoying the CD's! I never received the CD I wanted - that's what happens when the customer service people act like squirrels on crack. Too damn happy for their own good. We never did receive a refund for all those months we were charged for nothing - their crappy policy was they "can't" reimburse the funds if the charges were already made. After explaining the problem with the credit card company they credited our account and went after the Video 'Geezer' Professor. I wound up buying a book for $20 from a local book store and learned more from it than any stupid CD.

Video Professor will refund in full if a customer states he did not receive the lessons.

The "free" Video Professor disk came with an ink order. It never said there would be a charge or more coming automatically. I have reported it to AMex, since there is no address for returns on the box. It has cost me over $400 and a lot of time to stop this problem. It has not been stopped yet, but hopefully AMEX will be of assistance.
