WORX trimmer does not workkkkk

3/24/2008 - Judith of Washington, USA writes:

UPDATE: I have purchased a Worx electric grass trimmer for 59.99 after seeing it on TV in October, 2007. When I went online, I got a receipt on it. there is not any warranty info on this receipt. The box (thank goodness I saved it) says a 2 year limited warranty but nothing about returns. I tried to use it and the line feeding system does not work no matter what i do. I cannot use it. I tried everything and assumed after all that there would be a consumer satisfaction department. no there isn't. Now they tell me there is a 30 day return policy on it as stated in the TV Commercial. I bought it in October, 2007 and today is March 25, 2008. If I want anything from this item which cost me a total of $89.93, I must send it back to them and they'll send me a new one. Went to [] and found names and phone numbers. The results are pending. I informed the administrator of the problem and said I wanted a full refund. Hope hope it happens!

Right product for the job

12/16/2007 - Charlotte of Oregon, USA writes:

I was specifically looking for a light duty trimmer with light weight line and the Worx GT has been perfect for my purposes. I have a gas-powered trimmer for heavy-duty weed eating, and an electric one for general trimming around the yard. I wanted this one to trim grass around young trees without damaging the bark. I also do a lot of trimming at a pioneer cemetery around fragile monuments that have been seriously damaged in the past with high-power trimmers. With the Worx Gt I can use the flip-down guard when I am being extra cautious, but most monuments are fine without it. I bought two batteries and I get an hour and a half out of each one. For cemetery work it has been absolutely perfect because it is battery-operated (no electricity out there) and quiet. Unlike a gas-powered one, it stops whenever you release the trigger and it has no fumes. I wouldn't try to use it to cut tall grass and weeds, but then I would never use my big trimmers to do the work I do with this one. For precision grass trimming around fragile or sensitive objects it has been a great time-saver for me.

Works for single girl

12/16/2007 - Robin of California, USA writes:

I own my own home and take care of my own front and back yards. I hate gas powered equipment an decided to go all electric on my mower and edger. I bought the Worx GT over a year ago and love it. The battery last the 1.5 hours I need to trim both yards. If you keep your lawns up this lightweight product works great and its great for the enviroment!

A piece of worthless junk!

12/10/2007 - Barbara of New York, USA writes:

I wish I had read more reviews before buying this worthless tool. I wish I had mailed it back right away. But by the time I had used it, it was to late to send it back. And (from where I live) returning large items like this is such an ordeal. I would gladly give it away, but I am sure no one wants it? It is worthless with NO POWER AT ALL! It has been thrown off in a corner in the garage (deemed useless) Don't waste your money on this expensive piece of junk! I will NEVER! I repeat NEVER! purchase anything from this company again!!! I'm thinking on a scale of 1-10 that one is the lowest score I can give it.

Wasn't sure but in the end Happy

11/30/2007 - Michael of Georgia, USA writes:

I order the trimmer after years using noisy, hard to start gas "weed" eaters. I wasn't use that an electric would do the job. I had a little trouble with the order process, actually ended up with two and got billed for two. Also had a little difficulty finding the phone number and customer service info to have the second one returned, but finally got the info and got the item returned and got credited for the entire amount including the shipping. It took a little while getting use to since I had been using gas powered trimmers that could cut down a small forest. After realizing that it is a "grass trimmer" not a "weed" and small bush trimmer, I have been very pleased with the results. The trimming and edging ability of the trimmer have worked very well and my yard looks better than ever. It does take a longer to do the job than with the gas trimmer, but them after getting the yard under control from lack of being trimmed it is now a breeze.

Ughhhh...

10/18/2007 - Donna of Georgia, USA writes:

I caught the end of this infomercial a few months back and raved about this to my husband who was looking into replacing out corded trimmer. Finally, we happened on the infomercial by chance and he thought it looked as great as I did. He hopped on the phone, ordered the product "rush" (that's a laugh) and a little over a week later, there it sat at our door. It was a snap to put together and we charged the battery as recommended for the hour...NOPE, battery dead...charged for 2 hours..NOPE still dead. Days past and lives got busy and the WORXGT just sat there. Finally, hubby pulls it out to give it a try. IT SUCKED! It has NO POWER! Our lawn was not over grown by any means, yet this trimmer couldn't handle even the finest of weeds. Even the little blades of grass growing under our bird feeder were too much to handle. This thing couldn't trim up a chia pet!!! However, by far the most frustrating thing about it was that it ran through line and NEVER "auto fed" like it was supposed to. We were constantly stopping to punch that hateful button and manually pull the line. It was returned yesterday and even with the loss of shipping here and back...We're better off with it taking up space elsewhere! WHAT JUNK!!!

Works as expected

10/14/2007 - Todd of Louisiana, USA writes:

I have a pretty decent size lawn and use to use a gas trimmer. As long as I don't let the grass get out of hand the WorxGT is fine. Light, easily manipulated, good battery life (so far), quiet. Every 4-5 cuts you may need to re-edge with an edger or gas trimmer, especially if there's a lot of rain. But normally it’s good for maintaining a well kept lawn. Battery lasts about 1.5 to two cuts on one charge. I do wish that the cutting swath was 12" instead of 10". That's the only reason it does not get the last star. Also, a word to WorxGT marketing on power - power is not measured in volts; it’s measured in horsepower or watts. Saying it has 18 volts of power is equivalent to saying it has 18 feet of power. It’s meaningless. They don't publish the actual power output or amperage, probably because it’s pretty low. A typical corded trimmer has about 1/2 hp. I would guess that the Worx GT is about 1/8 hp. An extra 1/4 horse would be nice, but would cut the battery life by a third. It would be nice if you could dial it up temporarily for tough patches, but the inverter would run the cost up some. A Li-ion battery would be nice too, but once again would run up the cost possibly set someone on fire. Overall, if you have a well kept lawn and realistic expectations, I would recommend this product and would buy again.

INSANE! GREAT! PERFECTED

10/8/2007 - Eddy of Nova Scotia, Canada writes:

I bought this product thinking I was going to get ripped off, but boy! was I wrong!. The power in this little machine is extreme, it cut through anything, almost tore the siding off my house it was so strong, dont listen to any of those other posts, this product is great for anyone against any weed or bush. We had old rose bushes in the backyard and we decided to get rid of them, well this product ripped that entire bush apart in seconds, it basically tore the roots out with it. This product is great for you.

Possible Hazzard

9/5/2007 - Jeff of California, USA writes:

I've been using my Worx GT, for a couple of months and am VERY happy with it. Having only the use of one arm and needing to do weekly landscaping for an elderly cousin, this unit is much easier to use than either my old gas or her new electric (corded) unit. I have found that it takes about 1.5 batteries to completely do her almost one acre yard. Following the instructions, I totally discharge the batteries before placing them in the charger. And,I don't mind that it takes between 1.5 & 2 hours to recharge each battery. It has been doing great, until two days ago. After about 2.5 hours, I noticed a smell coming from the area of the charger. When I looked, I noticed the battery had actually split open at the seam and the charger had neither light on. I immediately unplugged the unit, took everything outside and took the battery out of the charger. When I was separating it from the charger, the battery spit and popped. I thought it may start leaking, but that never happened. The battery is now cold, but is shaped very different than before. The charger (though showing NO signs of damage) fails to light up at all. Upon contacting "Lamar" at Customer Service, He was able to get authorization to expedite a new charger and battery to me (although the batteries are currently on "back order"). This way I will be able to keep up my cousin's yard. I just wanted to be able to let others know that this could happen, so users would NOT LEAVE THE CHARGING BATTERY UNATTENDED!!! Who knows, if I wasn't home, this may have started a fire... And for this reason ONLY, am I unable to give this product 5 stars. After reading the other entries on this item, I find it hard to imagine we are talking about the same product. Although I knew going into this transaction that this would not be as powerful as a gas powered unit, it performs as good as an electric (corded) Toro trimmer. And the edging feature makes her lawn areas look nice & clean. If anyone feels this comment is a "plant," they can email me for verification. Thanks, Worx, for a very helpful product.

This is PERFECT!

9/4/2007 - Kalil of New York, USA writes:

All I'd like to say is that the Worx Gt works well for me. I'm an Upstate New Yorker with a pretty decent size front and back yard. The Worx 2 in 1 was purchased exclusively for the edging capabilities. Although I have used it to weed wack also, and it works well in that area too. It's light weight and very easy to operate and recharge. Again, I bought it exclusively to give my lawn that paper cut "edge-up" and I use my weed wacker to tear up weeds, etc. This is a great buy and it does the job! ! !

Don't buy this product

8/27/2007 - Tim of Minnesota, USA writes:

I bought the worx GT because I liked the 2 in one feature. The infomercial assured the proper amount of power and quality of the product. I was very dis appointed when I used the product. It was not even close to what the informercial made it out to be.

You need a PHD to get it back in the box!!!!

8/13/2007 - Ricky of New Jersey, USA writes:

Alrighty, where to begin. I saw the infomercial and it looked really good. I wonder what kind of grass they have on TV, its certainly not the type that grows in Jersey. Anyway, the product was a snap to put together, I should have paid attention when I took it out of the box but I felt like a boy with a new toy and just had to rip it apart and play with it. I charged the battery overnight as I got it late in the day and well the battery lasted my entire yard. However, what took me 1 hour to do with my gas trimmer, which I also edge with it (the lines aren't straight but it does the job) took me almost 1 and half the time. Thats right, 2 hours and a half instead of one hour. The power that came from the toy... whoops I meant worx GT was kind of like the playskool toys I would by at Toys R Us. As stated in another post, if you hit a big enough weed, not plant or tree, but just a big clump of weed, it would stop. No big deal just push the button and your good to go. On to the actual whacking of weeds like on the cracks and crevises of my sidewalk.... I might as well have done it with scissors thats how slow it was. The edging feature of it was pretty nice but only because it had a wheel. I actually hit grass and it didn't like my grass, it just kind of blew a little dirt around. So after 1 try around my yard I figured I'd rather spend 200$ on an edger and use my gas powered whacker. Also, when trying to pack it back in the box, trying to split the handle with the power button and the shaft, what a NIGHTMARE! I had to disassemble the handle to get the shaft to come out. You seriously need a PHD just to get the thing apart and then to pack it in the box like they sent it to you. After 2 hours, I just started cramming stuff in the box and I DARE them to try and not give me my refund. Its bad enough I have to pay for the shipping to send it back. What a piece of crap. But in all honesty, for little old ladies and men who can't handle the gas, this piece of shit is perfect for you, but if you need some real power and don't have astroturf to cut, this thing is not what you expect. What a jip, thanks for nothing Worx GT!

Worx GT - Don't Waste Your Time

8/11/2007 - Randy of Texas, USA writes:

I waited almost 3 weeks for "rush" shipping. This thing would not cut it's way out of a wet paper bag. Hude waste of money & time. I am trying to return. The olny contact numbers they have are for "pre-sales" so they can sell you. No help in returning the product. JUNK!

Very Happy

8/9/2007 - Rachel of California, USA writes:

I bought this for my husband for Fathers Day 2007. We are very happy with this product love the fact that is re-chargeable. Also like how the line automatically adjust when its to short. Also the spools last a pretty long time we had our for 2 months and we weed every weekend and just barely had to put a new one in. I would highly recommend this product.

Not What It Looked Like

7/31/2007 - Colleen of Minnesota, USA writes:

We bought the worx gt and waited almost 3 weeks for 'rush' delivery. When we got it it took almost 2 hours to charge the battery. Then we looked for the string. What a joke that was - Two spools about the size of a Fifty cent piece. We packed it back in the box and are requesting return authorization. Guess we are back to the old loud gas powered one. We would not recommend this product to anyone.

Just Not what they said it would be

7/26/2007 - Pat of North Carolina, USA writes:

When using this product I had a great deal of problems with the line feed.I had to manuely feed the line most of the time. When I ordered the "free" replacement line the shipping was almost $9.00 for 3 packs of line and I was sent the incorrect line. Now the line feeder cap cover has come off some where when I was last using it and I have a useless product. I could only do about half of my yard with it before I needed to recharge. -BUT- It was light weight and easy to handle when it worked I would never buy this again and would have returned this but my husband threw the carton away.
