A Great Exercise Investment

5/6/2007 - Lorenzo of Connecticut, USA writes:

have been using the Weider Crossbar for over 2 years and have not changed my opinion of it. It is a great workout apparatus with almost unlimited potential. Pros: 1. Allows full range of motion. 2. Well-constructed and reasonably solid. 3. Horizontal bars with collars make it supremely easy to change resistance quickly and with little effort. 4. Almost limitless exercises (download their workout sheet from their site) for every part of the body, including legs. 5. Easy change from high and low. 6. Bench moves well and is easy to adjust. 7. Far less expensive than its competitor. 8. Folds up and moves relatively easily. Cons: 1. Assembly is long and tedious, though the instructions and marked parts are well thought out. 2. Slightly cheaper made than its competitor. 3. Horizontal bars necessitate wider area in which to place it. 4. Bench removal is easy; putting it back is harder. 5. Rower aspect not as smooth as a dedicated rower. 6. Maximum resistance isn't achieved until the last half of the exercise.

Great !!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I am a martial artist and competitive power lifter with over 30 yrs experience. I absolutely love the Cross Bow.I have had it two yrs now and have never ever had a problem with it. It is completely different from free weights.I have a complete gym which includes olympic weights, dumbells, power rack etc and this is my favorite piece of equipment. At 45 years of age and many injury's it gives me a complete range of motion without the stress on my joints. Take it from me this is a great machine!!Don't pay attentioin to the candy ass whimps who say otherwise. In Strength Shawn Pittbull

Dont waste your money

Dont waste your money on a weider crossbow, a complete piece of junk. I have had techs out twice to fix the machine, I can't seem to make it through a workout without the machine failing, what a waste of $800.00. I say buy a bowflex or join a gym.

Great Workout!

11/22/2006 - Ray of Washington, USA writes:

I purchased the Crossbow about six months ago, and have used it nearly every other day since. I have paired down the 65 exercizes to 33 that I really like. I have a routine where I cover all 33 in just over half an hour. Super easy to change resistance and keep the work out going. I love it, and have lost over 20 pounds! I'm 50 years old, and thisis a real Crossbow body!!

OK at best

10/19/2006 - Wally of Idaho, USA writes:

I had the same issue with the CrossBow that many complain about regarding Bowflex, Soloflex, and other similar devices - range of motion. At the beginning of the movement the resistence is way too easy, at the end of the movement way too hard. So, if you want to get a complete range of motion for most compound exercises, you have to lower the weight so much there is almost no resistence at the beginning. Isolation exercises are better because they generally rely on a shorter range of motion. I suppose if you have real short arms, or you are a kid, it's not as much of an issue. I even toyed with the idea of adding short resistence bands between the cable and the handles to try to compensate, but I never got around to it. I'll leave that to someone else to try.

Great Work-Out

8/9/2006 - Ron of California, USA writes:

I have a Back Problem So, I could not do regular work-out anymore. The Crossbow has allowed me to begin toning my body with-out hurting my back. I can also increase the weight using the bench, roler or leg attachment without putting hurtful pressure on my back. It's Great!!

Good Alternative

3/13/2006 - Anonymous of Texas, USA writes:

I purchased the crossbow platinum to replace my free weights due to space requirements. I lifted weights competitively in college and have tried many other machine weight systems as well. This one is the best one I have used. The only con I have is that to hook up the leg extention and preacher bench attachments you have to re-attach several cables. Other than that I have been very pleased with it, even my kids use it.
