I watch infomercials as a pastime,a sort of hobby. The TimeLife ones are, by far, my favorites to watch; I am also a music lover. So I find that I know most of the song clips and enjoy watching the hosts try not to make fools of themselves. All in all, I was captivated into actually wanting to own a collection. A family member bought Flowerpower for me for Christmas, seeing as that was one of my favorite infomercials, of which I stayed up late to watch. I memorized lines from it, because it was also a learning experience. Being a teenager, I did not know the background information to the songs, and the infomercial provided a mini history lesson on the 1960s. I was impressed by the collection, because of the variety. I think they embellish it a little to make us think the collecion was bigger that it really is. The adorable collector's box is small. That would probably be my only complaint, and as for the quality of the songs, I was completely satisfied.
Short Versions of Favorite Songs

I have ordered several Time/Life music CD collections. The prices were expensive, and they took about 2 weeks to arrive. However, there was nothing dishonest or fraudulent about the prices or the product. What I got was collections of songs from the mid 1960s and from the 1970s (I tried a few of these). One of the products claimed to have all the songs from the 1980s that anyone could want, but that was blatantly exaggerated (there were only 148 songs on the collection, compared with 240+ #1s alone from the '80s). What was on the compilations was the highlights, usually only Top 10s. The biggest faults I have found was that most of the songs tend to run short. They are mostly single versions. Many of the songs ran as much as 5-6 seconds short of the single version or other compilations that I could easily acquire. Typical of Time-Life Music is that a song will be missing the last 2 or 3 seconds. I have found that true with just about every collection. I would estimate that at least a quarter of the songs are cut short. These collections will fill in holes in one's collection. They will also do well if you are not picky about hearing the last few seconds of your favorite songs (I am). The recording quality is quite good, as is the standard these days with CDs (at least I have yet to find re-records and "live" crap). If you just want a "period tape" collection and do not wish to do the searching yourself, go ahead and get these collections. But, I would not recommend throwing out all those shopping carts of LPs and CDs. Those shopping carts have plenty of songs you will not find on the T/L CDs. And, they will probably be the long version, especially for those disco and '80s collections where the full versions can exceed 6 minutes regularly.
Doo Wop goes right to my heart

It's so hard to find all the best Doo Wop songs on one CD and forget about finding a radio station that plays them anymore. Thank you for putting out the best collection ever. This music is like the history of my life!
Malt Shop Memories is very good

I bought the Malt Shop Memories CD's(1950's music) and I am very pleased. The sound quality is excellent and it is a wonderful assortment of music from the 1950's. The payments were split up and my credit card has been charged properly. I am pleased with Time-Life and would order again from them.
Time Life Superstars of Country

I purchased the Time Life Superstars of Country collection after watching an infomercial. During the informercial, I kept saying, "That's a great song" over and over. Finally I broke down and purchased it. Well worth the money. I strongly recommend this collection for any country music fan.
