I purchased the Tater Mitts last year after seeing them in a drugstore. I've had a lifelong allergic contact reaction with raw potatoes, and thought this was my solution. Nothing on the box mentioned boiling the potatoes first. I was very disappointed with the waste of time and money. Wish I had checked here first!

Very Disappointing -- First you have to cook the potatoes, boiling for 5-6 min. THEN take them out, run under cold water while scraping with the mitts. The cooked skin clings to the mitts, so you have to thoroughly wash them off -- it's nasty. Also, I had to then cut the eyes out of the softened potatoes. It took more time than simply peeling them. A WASTE of money and time!!!

I saw the infomercial, and was tempted. Thanks to reading various reviews, I decided to save my money. I strongly feel that this infomercial should be either changed to show how you have to parboil the potatoes first, or removed all together. It is false advertising, and at best, misleading. I wonder how many people would buy the product if they knew the truth? You could probably count the customers on the fingers of one "tater mitt"! ..and what a wicked waste of water! I shudder to think how much water you have to use, a whole pan full to parboil, and then to throw away, then to let the tap run continually whilst you "peel" the potatoes...it's criminal! Thanks again folks for saving my money, and my dignity!

These gloves were such a disappointment. I had my eye on them for several months before breaking down and buying them, and let me tell you, they are positively useless. The ad is misleading, and you have to cook the potatoes before you can peel them...so much for saving some time. I should have known it was too good to be true. They are awful!

What a waste of money! No where in the commercials or on the box does it say you have to boil the potatoes first. How is that time saving? I could have bought 3 peelers for the same price. I can't see them being helpful unless I had 100 lbs. of potatoes to peel. Whose going to boil 1 or 2 potatoes? Not me. I feel like a fool. I wish we could sue for false advertisement.

These are a waste of money. You don't find out until you open the package that you have to boil the potatoes first, and it still took several minutes to remove the skin! This does not save any time at all, and the gloves do protect against the heat of the boiled potatoes. It is much easier to just use a paring knife.

This product stinks. It does not work. I did not realize I had to boil potatoes first. Do not waste your time or money. Hopefully we can get our money back.

Gloves are very large, even on my husband. Medium sized potatoes took much longer than 8 seconds. More like 3 minutes. Gloves developed 2 pin holes after skinning 6 medium sized potatoes. Gloves are difficult to clean. The abrasive palm side is very similar to sharp fish tank gravel and as you sand off the peel of the potato, some of the blue gravel deposits itself into the potato. I have now returned my Tater Mitts.

Another useless t.v. product. they don"t tell you ,you have to parboil them first.they are so big they fall off your hands ,and they smell awful. and the chopper is also useless. I was fortunate enough to get my monye back. because I bought them at a []. Don"t wast your money!!!

I bought these because I absolutely abhor peeling potatoes. Come to find out, and far from what the infomercial states, you have to boil the potatoes first. Everyone already knows that the skin slides right off cooked potatoes. If I wanted to handle hot potatoes, it is just that much easier to put them in them in the microwave for a good 4-5 minutes and use a knife.

Came upon these in a store display and seemed like potential good product. Took home, felt somewhat deceived as it requires parboiling of the potatoes to loosen skin...but then so does dipping tomatoes in classic cooking, although only for 30 seconds as opposed to the recommended 3-4 minutes for potatoes. So there is a risk of actually pre-cooking the outher layers too much. They work, sort of...even factoring in potatoes are going to have different thickness of outer skin. Still, you have to have your faucet water awfully hot as you scrub and found the mitts weren't so good at protecting the hands from the heat of that, so had to turn down heat which slows the progress. On other hand, peeling potatoes with a paring knife is time consuming and you have to go back and use the point of knife to take out eyes, etc. and the mitts gave more even results overall and felt tthey were useful. They cleaned up very easily. Later tried them on yucca, the caribbean starchy root which are notoriously hard to peel and cook, and they came in handy there, but after cooking them for half hour to get any softening at all of peel or vegetable...was glad to have them for that task, so now have to rate tthis as something that can be useful at times. I would have felt less deceived, though, if packaging had said on outside, "Just parboil for 3 minutes and peel!" or something like that.

This product is wonderful! My husbadn purchased these for me because of difficulty using / holding utensils. I have Fibromyalgia and arthritis and it usually takes me forever to peel pototoes or carrots because of the pain in my hands from gripping the utensils. These gloves made it a breeze. It was an effortless way of peeing potatos and did not cause me any pain. I was please with what quick work the mits made of the job and how easy they were to clean. The only suggestion I would have is smaller sizes. They were a little big on me and I have several family member who I would consider buying these as gifts. They however, would need a smaller size. Their hands would be lost in these mitts. This was actually my reason for visiting the site tonight - to see if smaller sizes were available. Another note - you should consider children's sizes as well. This would be a safe an fun way children could help around the kitchen. My great-nephew used mine to help with dinner - though way too big - he was able to do two potatoes very effectively. A smaller size would have been great for him. Once again many thanks for your wonderful product!

Recently a pair of these gloves were purchased for the household! First of all I want to say that these gloves are a wonderful addition to any kitchen! It makes the work of peeling a potatoe quicker and easier as far as clean up goes! I have a four year old son that loves to help me in the kitchen and for the first time he was able to help me peel the potatoes for dinner and did an excellent job at it!! As for myself having a medical issue that causes alot of pain in my hands when having to grip things for any period of time they are a lifesaver!!! The only con I can think of with this product is that they are quiet large, my only suggestion for change would be for them to come in smaller sizes and maybe even a childs size so for those of us with a family that have small children that like to be in the kitchen and "help" they aren't falling off of their hands!! Very easy clean up and very helpful! They do take some getting used to as does any new product introduced into a kitchen just takes time and practice!

I ordered Tater Mitts with free vegatable slicer-The mitts took longer that using a paring knife- a waste of time and money. The free gift-vegatable slicer was a bust also - I think I have above average arm strength but was unable to slice the potatoes- I was just not strong enough. Again- a waste of time and money- I am so glad I did not accept their offer of sending to my friends for half price.

First, you must boil the potatoes. Give me a break! Then the gloves only do a so-so job of peeling. The old fashioned paring knife is both faster and better. Order only if you like to be disappointed.

I received my tater mitts and I was very excited to try them. After that first initial thrill, everything went down hill fast! Cons: 1. Size: Waaaay too big for my hands which are about average woman sized hands. 2. ungainly: I dropped the potato several times. I don't want to have to learn how to peel a potato, I just want it peeled. 3. weird smell: very strong "new car" smell, great for a car, weird for a pair of gloves I'm going to use on food. 4. Hard to clean. These gloves are covered with a substance that very closely resembles fish tank gravel and the potato peeling gunk gets embedded in it and won't wash away which is pretty yucky. 5. HUGE waste of water. You have to keep the water running while using the gloves or potato gunk clogs up the gloves and renders them useless...errr...more useless. Pros: 1. Easy to return for refund. 2. Might look great on the bottom of a fish tank. Overall: Buy a nice traditional peeler and forget about the tater mitts.

I got my Tater Mitts about 3 weeks ago. I followed the directions, and experimented until I got them to work. I can peel a potato in about 6 seconds. I like them very much.

I got a pair and they work like a miracle. I never use a knife or my old peeler anymore. And when you cook from scratch the price and quality of your meals are much better. Potatoes are cheep, and I love mashed, but I always hated peeling them. Now it’s kinda fun. My wife doesn’t cook because she works full time and goes to college too. So it’s me. I used to be a cook in the army. Jeff

I an not sure what material the gloves are made from. But after using them on my potatos they had this nasty odor from the gloves. I put the patatos in the garbage ad well as the gloves. Nobody should use them on food!!!
