This bed is fabulous. I have had a bad back (lumbar region would hurt so bad I would have to sit down after 5 minutes the pain would be unbearable) for 11 plus years. The mattress came with our new motorhome and we both LOVE it. My back is still weak, but the pain is GONE. My husband suffered off and on (mine was 24/7/365) and now his is gone, too. We can't say enough good things about this bed.

After spending such a high price on a bed, I was shocked that the pillowtop would collapse and show my body imprint after a few years. This condition is NOT covered under warranty and a replacement pillow top for my expanded queen is $686! Read the warranty, it is pretty useless. I have recommended this bed to a number of people who have made purchases. Never again. Don’t buy this overpriced bed!

I purchased a full size Sleep Number bed (model #5000) just over two years ago at a local shopping mall outlet store and am already replacing it with a traditional mattress and box springs. My Sleep Number bed sags badly in the middle,is very hard on the edges and looses air settings nearly every night so that you go to bed on one number and wakeup (if you slept at all)on another sleep number. I have not had a good night of sleep for quite sometime, but since I spent so much money on this product I tried to stay with it thinking maybe I would adjust to it, but it only got worse. The only good sleep I have had in the past two years is when I go camping in my pop-up camper and notice then how much better I sleep and feel. It seems like the advertising for the Sleep Number sings great praises to its benefits, but I found it to be just a way overpriced air mattress. I am very discouraged that I fell for all the hype that surrounds this bed. If asked, I would not recommend this product to anyone. I have loaded my Sleep Number bed onto my pickup and am taking it to the city dump.

I have always had issues with beds and sleep and decided to splurge on this bed to finally get a good nights sleep. Bottom line: It Sucks! I have slept on sofas more comfortable. And the middle DOES sink!

I didn't like this bed, it's like an adjustable air mattress fitted inside a thick cover, the middle tends to concave in, it's as if you're in a bowl. I personally didn't like the lack of full body support.

We have owned the queen size 5000 model for a couple of years and to be honest I have hated it because I tended to roll to the middle of the bed. When my husband laid on his side, my side would puff up, and when he got out of bed , my side would go down. We have stayed at the [] and slept on the king sized model and I could not believe the difference. I never knew when my husband got in and out of bed. I am concidering getting the king size now. I slept really well on the king size.

The product works PERFECTLY IF and I stress IF..... you are at the right setting or number. Alot of idiots seem to think they need a firm bed and jack the number up to 65 or more which is insane. This then causes back pain so they blame the bed. Also it is a NEW TYPE of bed so when you get one it takes AT LEAST two weeks to get used to it! A great product if given an opportunity!

I have one of the 3000 models and I love it. It does take getting used to and I agree that if you sleep on your stomach you wake up with back pain, especially if you already have back problems. It does dip in the middle, but not badly and I have not tried it with a partner sleeping next to me so I cannot speak to that. Sleeping on your sides or your back it works very well and does not wear out like a regular mattress. Tip: Get a really good mattress pad to go with it.

The purchase of this bed was my husband's idea, and he was wrong! My main problem with this bed is that it sinks in the middle. I prefer a higher number (greater than 60, depends on my mood) & he prefers a number below 30. This big difference means that I have a constant feeling of sliding to his side of the bed. The price is OK when you compare it to better mattresses. However, if you need a replacement of anything covered under the warranty, prepare to be raped financially. The replacement costs are prorated depending on how long you've had the bed. We had to replace the pump after we'd had the bed two years. The pump was approximately $200 plus shipping. When compared to hospital & hotel beds, I am happy to see my Select Number. When compared to my sister's better pillow top brand mattress (that I can't name here), I'm not too happy. I also find that if I sleep on my stomach, I wake with a horrible back ache. If you & your partner like similar levels of softness or firmness, you might enjoy this bed. However, if your desired levels are in contrast to each other, keep looking.

My wife and I have had this bed for over a year now. Despite some early issues with an air leak that Select-Comfort customer service was quick to address, we've had no complaints. My wife is a back-sleeper and needs a firmer mattress, I'm a side sleeper and need something softer by supportive. This was the only bed that has allowed us to sleep compatibly without back problems. The adjustment is especially helpful once you've had a chance to find your 'number' and adjust into it. I should advise that staying at a Radisson is probably not the best test drive, since it only gives you one night to find your ideal setting and doesn't educate you about the bed. If you already know your number, it's much less of an issue. But you definitely need to try the bed for a serious length of time and Select-Comfort is very good about both service and supporting their product to your satisfaction. My bed has reduced my overall back pain, and has solved all of my wife's issues. We couldn't be happier and recommend it highly.

We slept on this bed at the Raddison in San Francisco. Talk about a lousy nights sleep. I kept rolling out of bed and my husband kept rolling toward me. DON'T BUY THIS BED EVER! I WILL NOT.

DO NOT USE ALL CAPS. We very very very unhappy with this product. It did not hold air. We replaced the pump and the mattress. We set it on 75 , would wake up and it would be on 40 or my husband's side would be on 100. We took out the radio , alarm clock and the TV. As was suggested.. that did not work.. When they asked us if any of our neighbors had sleep number bed... that it was possible when they were changing their bed , ours was changing!!! It was time to SEND the bed BACK!! However I did think think that the customer service people were freindly , nice and tried to help.. For them they get a Gold Star. But I am not happy on how much it costed to return the bed!! This was suppose to be our Christmas present. We waited two years to buy this bed. I would not recommend it!!

We were very disappointed in this bed; I mean the Bionic Women was telling us how great this bed is. The worst night sleep ever. Asked for a refund and only got that after telling the store if they didn’t return our money NOW we would stand outside and tell everyone how terrible the bed and customer is. This seems to be a bed you love or hate there is no in between. We hated it.

My husband and I purhased a Sleep Number Bed after friends raved about theirs and my chiropractor told me he owned one as well. We checked them out in the store but were able to buy the previus years model through an 800 number which w much less than the store price. We saved quite a bit of money especially since we have a king sized mattress. I have a lot of allergies, especially to dust, and have avoided traditional mattresses since our marriage over 25 years ago. We started with a first generation water bed, moved to a soft sided water bed and now to the Sleep Number. The dust mites are much easier to control. We both love the bed. My husband is 6 ' 2 and I am 5' 2 and we are both able to set our side of the bed the way we want. He recently broke 7 ribs and loved that he could soften the bed so he could sleep in it the day he got home from the hospital. We put the mattress on top of our old soft sided water bed bases and it works very well. We have recommended the bed to many others and everyone we know who has one loves it. We have not had ay problems with ours at all.

I've had my 6000 for about 3 years now, bought it right before I had back surgery, and I love it! I've never slept so good and has such little pain in my life! I had a waterbed for years, and this is SO much better. And Ignore the reviewer who said that the bed doesn't stay inflated if the power goes out - They're wrong! The unit doesn't do anything until/unless you adjust the firmness (after initially filling it, of course). The air sections do NOT deflate when there's no electricity...How silly! I bought the 6000 instead of the 7000 because the 7000 comes with that memory foam which absorbs body heat - I'm too warm when I sleep already! Get the 7000 if you are cold at night; the 6000 if you don't. As for the price, well, you will pay just as much for a premium coil mattress that won't last as long! Here's a tip: Something I do in the summer is replace the foam piece with a featherbed. The 6000 has a 3-inch zippered gusset that is perfect for a gusseted featherbed. It's soft but supportive; cool and wonderful!

In July of 2007 my husband and I purchased a sleep number bed. It is absolutely horrible!!!! My husband has contacted the company via email, and was told that we need to completely fill up the bed, then slowly let air out until we get to where we are comfortable. Of course, that is what we had done when we first got the bed, but we decided to humour it and try again. It is no better. The mattress is always lopsided, so that if we don't sleep almost perfectly straight on our respective edges of the bed, we sink into the middle of the bed, and then our hips are basically on a hard surface, causing intense pain. If we do sleep perfectly straight on our respective edges, we wake up with sore muscles due to straining NOT to sink into the middle of the bed. And don't even try to tell me that we need to put MORE air into it, because then we feel like we are actually sleeping on barrels...who in their right mind thought that it would be a good idea to design a bed that, when filled with air, makes the user think "this must be what it feels like to sleep on a large, pregnant cheese wedge?" What's worse is that in order to have shipped it back within the 30-day trial, it would cost us $400.00!!! If the salesman at the store had informed us of that, there's no way we would have purchased the bed!! And we can't even sell the d*$% thing in good conscience, since we, unlike that company, are not comfortable with scamming innocent people out of their money when they are just trying to be able to get a good night's sleep. I fully intend to post a copy of this email on all of my blog sites and also with the BBB, the Consumer Protection Agency, any place online that I can find to post of review of these atrocious beds, and I will also send emails to the national radio station (WOWFM) that advertises these beds, that is, unless they can rectify this situation. Maybe the suits up in the boardrooms think it's okay to charge people $1000 for garbage, but I certainly don't, and neither do most people who have some slight contact with reality. I really wish I didn't have to give this at least one star due to the setup up this site.

We had a Sealy Posturpedic Riverwood pillowtop that we paid $1600 for 5 years ago. As with any mattress, no matter how good, it packs down in certain areas, mainly where your butt is, and I'm only 130 lbs., but it does get annoying going to sleep every night and having to deal with the "dip", especially when you try to sleep on your stomach and your back arches painfully. We decided on the Sleep Number bed. Only got the 3000 model ($599) as opposed to the 4000 model for $1000 more. We bought a thick Egyptian cotton pad for it and gave it a try. While it's not as plush as the Sealy, you can set it to your comfort level. I like mine soft (my setting is about 30). It eliminated the pressure points on my hips and shoulders. I used to wake up with pain in both because of the old mattress. The Sleep Number eliminated those and I've been sleeping much better. We put the SN on our old boxspring because the boxspring they were selling was too cheap and expensive. Overall, I like it and have slept better. Not to mention the fact that over time, a normal mattress accumulates a significant amount of dust mites and skin flakes (gross but true). With the SN, you can remove the mattress covering and wash it, can't do that with a regular mattress. I've definitely slept better with this bed, but I miss the height and plushness of a regular mattress.

We purchased a king size - 7000 model. We are very happy with the bed. We went to the store and tried them out first, and found that the less expensive models were definately less comfortable. Pro's: - Very comfortable - We sleep better, with less back pain. It takes a few weeks to find your "sleep number". but once you find it - .....aaaah !!! - Two controlls: You and your spouse can both have your desired firmness. - Two chambers: Movement is not transfered from side-to-side. Lets your partner sleep better. - Easy to assemble and move: Bed breaks down and was easy to move into a third story bedroom with a winding staircase. (std king bed would not have fit) Con's - Yes they are expensive!

I'd heard about these for a long time and had always assumed they must be great. I got pretty confused with all the options of standard spring and foam mattresses, and thought it would be simpler and probably better, and probably cheaper than the pricey mattresses I was seeing out there. I went to try one out [], and came away very unimpressed. The prices were so much higher than I expected, and when I lay on the bed it felt like a joke, just a cheap air mattress feel. Worse, when I sat up, lay down, or moved around the whole bed just felt like a bubble shifting around below me. Although they can put on a lot of padding on top I was checking these out as an alternative to springs and pillow tops or foam. More surprises... you have to leave the pump in an on state all the time, so if the power goes out for a few hours I'm not sure what you will do. The construction seemed cheap, not only the air mattress but also the foam sides with velcro stuff. When I heard about all the shipping details I just lost interest. I was actually very disappointed, like a big let down. I'd been in need of a new mattress for years and was finally ready once and for all to invest in a good one that can last me for the next 10-15 years, but I couldn't believe what this "technology" actually was and how incredibly expensive it was. I would think that this would only be worth it as a way to emulate a traditional bed with a cheaper technology at a much lower price, but they seem to charge nearly the same amount as a "real" mattress. I was shocked

This bed is really bad. My wife and I wake up in pain every day. We have adjusted the numbers many times and to no avial. Yesterday, I was soar all day from back pain. We wake up several times a night to try and get comfortable; which breaks out sleep. We both are in the medical field and know the importants of sleep and the Sleep Number is not it.
