This Stuff Sucks

8/24/2008 - Mary of Michigan, United States writes:

I'm so tired of de-fuzzing my legs. I'm 52 and been doing it for about 38 years and, yes, it still matters. So, I had tried Nads back when it was first released and hated it. Sticky, messy & horrifically time consuming. But, hey, that was about 10 years ago so the memory had faded, and hope had flared. So, I bought the newer pre-Nadded paper strips. Same bad product, same mess, same time-consuming nightmare. I even tried it a 2d time, with left-over strips to see if, in fact, it did get easier. Bull. Not only didn't it get easier, but I had 50+ ingrown hairs from last time. And, by ingrown, I mean about 3/4" to an inch in length & completely embedded under the skin. I actually had to break the skin repeatedly to dig them out with tweezers. Furthermore, I couldn't BELIEVE how much hair it left and how much had actually simply been broken off last time, not removed, and then grown out with the rest that had been missed by the product. I'm only out $10.00 and a whole lotta time. Fortunately, I was watching the Olympics the 2d time & not going anywhere, anyway, so I don't have the same regret I did for the first unbelieveable black-hole of time & enerby.

Doesn't remove hair but tastes ok

6/29/2008 - Lisa of Ohio, US writes:

I got this back when Nads was first introduced in the US back in the early 2000's. I tried it to wax my legs, which failed horribly. I let the hair grow long (since that was recommended) and did just as the instructions stated. It just left sticky goo all over my legs and ripped off part of my epidermis. As far as hair removal goes, this is awful and way overpriced. On the infomercial, they had women eating this product, boasting about how since it was all natural you could eat it. Being the quirky teenager I was back then, I did, quite to my embarrassment when 2 of my guy friends decided to stop by unannounced and saw me eating Nads (yeah I still hear about it). It tastes like a mix of chamomile, lemon, and honey, in case anyone wants to know, lol. Long story short- this product is terrible and costs way too much money!

Waste of Money

6/11/2008 - Twiggy of PA , USA writes:

I bought this when it was first introduced, as it sounded like it would be something that would work. Wrong! It didn't pick up more than a few hairs, and I had to keep going back to try to get the rest and it left my skin all red, and needless to say I had to shave over it anyway since the product didn't work. It is sticky and messy as well. Save your money. I can't believe this product is still on the market.

sdfg

6/1/2008 - sdfg of tx, usa writes:

The wax does NOT get all of the hair. Only around half. It usually breaks the hair off close to the skin, leaving STUBBLE. After I do my whole leg, it feels like I had shaved it days ago. I ended up having to shave what it didn't get. Totally. Useless.

SKIN DEEPLY BURNED FOR MONTHS!

5/6/2008 - Des of Texas, USA writes:

I purchased the Nad's Hair removal product and tried it out on my underarms. It barely removed any hair but has left my underarms with severe burns. I have been applying prescribed medications for months now and my skin still hasn't healed. What an awful product! I would NEVER recommend this waste of money to anyone. Save your skin, don't buy this stuff!

I really like it!

4/18/2008 - Keri of Ca, USA writes:

Nads works great for me. It's less messy and easier to use than most at-home wax kits. Residue left on the skin is easily wiped away with a warm, damp washcloth. It really grabs the hair well, too. It doesn't leave my skin reddened for 2-3 days like salon waxing, either, although I've only used it in the bikini and underarm area. Of course it hurts, it IS ripping whole hair follicles out. I found a big tub of this stuff at a discount store, will definately by more. Oh, also use it on BF's unibrow, he says it hurts less than hot wax or the no-strip wax.

Yowch!!

3/5/2008 - Rachel of Illinois, USA writes:

UPDATE: Nad's is messy, painful and not worth its hype or price tag. You're better off going to a professional! And while Janette makes a bunch of good points (see review up above), I don't remember having to be a hair removal expert to use this product as the instructions were pretty straight forward: Smear on, pull skin tight, pull in opposite direction of hair. Did that. It hurt. NOT worth it. On top of fighting with the mess, sticky pads and "soothing" oil that did nothing but make my face shiny. Basically, it's just like any other type of hair removal: Messy, painful but with more hype because it's "natural".

i've tried everything

1/4/2008 - Brenda of Minnesota, USA writes:

I have used home electrolysis, the epil-lady (electrical hair puller), home electrolysis, hot wax, a sugary remover and Nad's. I would recommend Nad's. The secret is you must exfoliate and have oil free DRY legs. Use a scrub first then completely dry your legs. I also wouldn’t recommend doing very small areas when doing your underarms or better yet have a friend help. It can be tricky keeping the skin taught. Also, occasionally shave with a razor; it seams to reduce ingrown hairs. Warning: Repeated use will create hair-free areas. This happens with any kind of 'waxing' so; if you ever want to go natural don't use Nad's (or any other form of hair removal that takes the root). I have completely bare areas on my legs from years of use.

Works the opposite of what the infomercial claims

12/31/2007 - P.W. of Washington, USA writes:

It is just like using wax. It is NOT painless. It drips, runs and is very messy. Because it is so sticky, it is a nightmare to clean up. Leaves residue on the skin. Does NOT remove all hair- just a few at a time. NADS also ripped off some skin, leaving my leg raw and sore. I will NEVER buy this product again.

More infomercial hype

11/30/2007 - Bianca of Washington, USA writes:

This stuff is awful. It does NOT work well. A hot wax is quicker, less painful, and MUCH more effective. Nad's left sticky residue all over me and pulled out a handful of hairs at best. And yes, I DO know how to wax myself and I gave this product several tries so it is NOT an issue of technique for me. This product is completely humdrum and not worth the money. Funny side note: I left out on the counter in my bathroom and several days later I came upon an enormous trail of ants. Apparently, there was a hole under the sink and I didn't screw the lid on tightly enough. At least the commercial is right about this stuff being non-toxic and tasting good and I disoovered that we needed to redo the bathroom floor! :)

Good if you know how to use it

11/2/2007 - Janette of California, USA writes:

Most people who complain about this product don't know how to use it. - If your skin is bruising, you are NOT doing it correctly. Bruising occurs when you pull the hair in a direction that is not the complete opposite of the growth. Another side effect of not pulling in the right direction is ingrown hairs. This phenomenon is not exclusive to cold waxing; it is an issue of technique, not the product. - It will NOT remove the small downy hairs. In my experience w/ many different removal products, most of them won't. Tweezing tends to break them and the only technique you can count on is threading. - If the thicker hairs are not coming off, they might not be long enough. Ideally, the hair should be more than 1/4 of an inch. - Conversely, if it really hurts while you put it on, your hair might be too long and you should use a small trimmer/beard trimming function on a razor/trimming scissors, etc. to get your hair to 1/4 an inch. - You might bleed. That just comes w/ the territory when you're tearing out the hair follicles and all. You will not, however have large patches of skin removed as in the case of cheap salons that reheat their wax. - If you don't use it for awhile and open the jar to find that it's crystallized - DON'T MICROWAVE IT. Use a butter knife to stir it around a bit or better yet, leave it w/ the lid tightly on when someone is taking a shower so it gradually warms up. The consistency will probably not go back to clear in the jar but the only way it affects the product is that it gets a bit grainy. The stuff will go back to the original consistency when it's on your skin. - The soap is good but I find that it's simpler to just use some baby powder to soak up the moisture on the skin. - Exercise common sense - don't reuse strips if they're obviously saturated in the solution. It will not work properly. Don't slather the stuff on b/c the strip will end up taking the excess solution off your skin instead of solution+hair. - The cloth strips in the package are top rate in terms of thickness and size. They are unfinished on the sides so strings might come off but it stops eventually. I've since lost all of them and I use Moujan brand cold wax cotton strips which are not bleached and are thinner which result in the solution seeping onto my hands a bit quicker. - The lotion smells nice. I just leave it in one of my purses for when I need lotion. - I've stopped buying this b/c you can make it w/ sugar, water, and lemon. Still, sugaring in general is the best option for anyone who wants to remove large areas of hair but has sensitive skin. Most hair removal techniques will not exclusively remove all the hair and more often than not, if you want all of it off, you will have to do a run-through w/ a good pair of tweezers.

works as represented

10/30/2007 - Anonymous of North Carolina, USA writes:

Nads worked as a clean and comfortable alternative to hot wax, and more effective than pre-waxed strips. Bought on clearance and used for bikini wax. Once you rinse cloth strips, they have to dry completely before using again.

Not bad

8/1/2007 - Deb of California, USA writes:

I have tried other home cold wax and sugaring kits so I figure why not try this too. Doesn't work any better or any worse than the other products I have tried. As with the other sugaring/cold wax kits, you have to be very careful how much to use as to avoid a sticky mess. The only thing I really loved about Nads was the kiwi soap. Smelled so good. I have seen the soap sold by itself so I might just purchase that alone next time.

Tastes Ok

6/28/2007 - Becki of Iowa, USA writes:

The infomercial said it was safe to eat, or something like that, so I tasted it. It was sweet and kinda fruity. Other than that, yes, it hurt. Duh, that was expected, even though the company said it was painless, I'm not that naieve. It works ok, but waxing is less messy, and I can pay someone to do that for me. You also need to have a decent growth of hair for it to work. I don't want to look like Sasquatch just so I can rip all the hair out again. In all, don't bother unless you want an unusual ice cream topping.

Bleeding...

6/23/2007 - Kelly of Tennessee, USA writes:

Painful. Bleeding. Tried it on small area of my leg, only few hair came off. Remembering that the commerical says best on longer hair, I tried it on my underarm. After trying it on one of my underarms, going over the same area twice with most of the hair still left, I trashed it. Shaving doesn't sound so toublesome anymore.

Works Great

6/13/2007 - Cindy of California, USA writes:

What babies some of these people are. I have been using this product for years on my legs, eyebrows, arms and even my upper lip. I have never had any bleeding or bruising. Of course it hurts some your pulling out the whole hair folicle, but its not unbearble. But over time you have less hair growing in and its finer. Anyone who would pick hot waxing to using this product is crazy. I have recommended it to many people I know. Being able to go several months without shaving your legs is great and totally worth it.

it worked for me

12/16/2006 - Anonymous of California, USA writes:

I consider my skin to be sensitive, but this was one of the gentler waxing products I've used, I'm really surprised by some of the reviews here, I didn't have any bleeding!! It worked just like the informercial, I used the same strip over and over again and it still pulled the hair out, my only complaint would be the lady makes it look easier than it really is, especially the eyebrows, which I don't dare do myself anymore, I've given up and still go to a professional for that. I like that the ingredients are all natural.

It does not work!

11/21/2006 - Carrie of California, USA writes:

I actually tried this product when it first came out. I hated it. I tried it on my arms, it hurt so badly, what's more, little spots of blood came out on my already irritated skin, the next day I had a mild bruise on my arm. Used it that one time and that was it. Luckily I bought it at a drugstore so I didn't have to deal with membership problems and such.
