Not easily stored

6/29/2008 - Brieanna Wilson of Nevada, United States writes:

I found the product to be heavy and hard to break down. Although it does give you a work out, it is no better then cardio and a resistance band. The product is NOT easily stored. I purchased it because I thought I would be able to store away under the bed when not in use. This was not the case. I would not recommend this product. You can get the same effect for a lot cheaper.

I love my Pilates Chair!!!

6/26/2008 - Holly of GA, USA writes:

I have worked out all of my life and this is by far one of the best exercise investments I have made. I had recently gotten a bit out of shape and decided to give it a try b/c I love home gym pieces. There are shorter duration tapes to get you started and then the longer one for when you are ready to really work it. It is amazing how it works your entire body and how fast you see results! I actually enjoy doing it and look forward to it. The chair has rubber bottoms on the feet so when I am done I just push it in a corner. It is not heavy to me but might be to someone just beginning to workout. If you can't lift this chair then you definitely should be using it!!! I wanted to write this review b/c so many people think that reviews come from the company or friends of. I am just a regular customer who wants everyone to know how much I personally like this workout.

One of the best, easiest, & effective workouts!

6/24/2008 - Anna of PA, USA writes:

I have had a personal trainer, lifted weights 4-5 days a week & done cardio for 45-60 minutes 5 times a week in the past to stay thin and toned. After having 2 kids and being on bedrest, I gained alot of weight and never really was able to get it off. Getting to the gym took too much time away from them and I hate running. I had 50 lbs to loose and was tired of it...So I bought the pilates workout and chair so that I would have something that would take up little space and that I could do over my lunch break or before my kids wake up. It was VERY clear that the intro price was just for trial and that the 6 payments would follow...both on the phone & internet. Anyway, I have been doing the workout for exactly 2 weeks and have lost 10.5 pounds! It is challenging, but not anywhere near as difficult as lifting weights. I am not as sore as when lifting weights and do not sweat as much as when doing cardio. However, the results show that it is working. If I had ever found any form of working out to be this relaxing, effective, and fun, I would have been back in shape much sooner. I LOVE Malibu Pilates. And the cost is significantly less than paying a trainer $50 an hour for 6 sessions!

Love it!!

I have the chair and love it. The only hard one for me is the push up one. What routine is everyone using? They aren't specific. Please help.

price

6/9/2008 - karen of ky, usa writes:

Do not understand how people can be so ridiculous to think that the chair only costs $14.95. If you listen to the infomercial, it is quite clear that the initial charge is just to try the product. Common sense and paying attention goes a long way. You should not be mad at company for something you don't understand. If you want a good machine, you have to pay for it.

Deceptive advertising

6/5/2008 - Jean of CA, USA writes:

I purchased the Malibu Pilates for what I thought was $14.95 plus $29.95 shipping and handling. I was shocked to see that my credit was going to be billed for the next six months to the tune of over $300. I called to complain. I never even took the device out of the box. I told them I wanted to return it and they told me that I would have to pay the shipping costs both ways. I am furious about this. I am now paying well over $60 for something that once I realized the true price, I didn't even want. Guthy-Renker should be ashamed of themselves.

This is a Pilates Wunda Chair workout

5/12/2008 - Tracy of MO, usa writes:

I am 42 and I've practiced Mat pilates and home reformer workouts. I was very excited that I saw the infomercial for the Mailbu Pilates. This is the first, reasonably priced, at-home version of Joseph Pilates famous Wunda Chair. The chair itself is well made and does fold for storage. It was not intuitive in the set up, so really read the book. It has the ability to switch from single pedal to dual pedal easily which gives more options than the studio chairs. Resistance is adjustable as well. :) The workout includes a 20 minute workout, Mari Winsors dynamic sequencing Pilates workout and the 45 minute dream body workout. I feel that this is an excellent product but my whole purpose of writing this review was to say that the infomercial is misleading by saying "how easy' this workout is. Pilates is not easy. I've been doing Pilates for several years and this workout is not for the deconditioned or someone who is unfamiliar with basic pilates. The ab series exercises are done with no support to the neck. This is advanced! It's a wonderful addition to your pilates practice and I recommend it highly. I don't think the price is unfair at all. A similar at home chair is over 800 dollars. I have never had any problems with Guthy Ranker and enjoy that they incorporate Mari Winsor into this series. I do however wish that there was a way to order the high rise handles that are shown on the infomercial. They are no where to be found on the web. I got nothing in my package about ordering them. Recap: Pilates lovers.. get this. Deconditioned: Start with some basic pilates dvds and take a look at Supreme Pilates. Then move on to Malibu Pilates!

Malibu Pilates Defective Chair

5/12/2008 - christine of new York, USA writes:

After setting up the Chair - tried the first exercise- realized the springs were defective (not same reistance) I called and was told I could not use Their Fedex account to return. I This wasted experience is costing me $85- and I have nothing to show for it. I also believe you can get the same/better results from a $15-resiting band that I bought 20 yrs ago - still being sold on the internet.

My favorite chair in the house

5/8/2008 - Natascha of Vastra Gotaland, Sweden writes:

I fell in love with my Malibu pilates chair and with Carroll! I got my chair yesterday and I already watched all the DVDs and tryed the 20 minuters malibu pilates makeover. I feel toned and energetic just after 1 workout. It is amazing! Great resistance and stabil construction of the chair. I feel totally safe using it. Carroll is a great instructior and charming lady. Her voice is calm and pleasent, she is in great shape! The music is pleasent, neither laud nor irritable. Nice surroundings! You can see the ocean from there. The DVDs programs give you total body workout, not easy one. You did not need to know pilates to begine with, but if you do it would be easier. Get some basic knowledge in pilates before you start, i really recommend it! I understand that some pilates instructors are very irritated about this chair, I red some negative rewies, before I ordered my chair. I am glad I didn´t listen to this comments. Of course, why don´t they? They are milking money from you for every lesson. I am glad this chair is not pilates studio exlusive anymore. You can bye a real wunderchair but it will cost thousands of dollars. This malibu chair will cost me 10 lesson with the private teacher. Not a big deal. After I can practise at home for free. You can bye some DVDs with other pilates chair rutins and try it at home. For instance stott pilates. They have 3 or 4 dvds on the chair. The possibilities is endless! I trully recomend this product to all! The chair is easy to transpose so I put my chair on the terass and do my pilates. This is so much fun! I love mu malibu pilates chair! Do you still have questions? Do not hesitate to write an e-mail to me!

Good piece of exercise equipment.

4/24/2008 - Wendy of Washington, USA writes:

Have been using the Malibu Pilates chair for 3 weeks now and definitely plan to keep it. Was very easy to set up (less than 10 minutes)and has 3 good instructional DVD's. This product is quite easy to use and targets the areas I want to work on. I can definitely feel it in my abs, thighs, calfs and arms. The 45 minute workout is my favorite, as it combines all the exercises and incorporates a bit of cardio as well. I am sweating by the end of this workout. I have about 30 pounds to lose and the ease of the pilates chair has helped with my motivation.

Great Product!

4/2/2008 - L of CA, USA writes:

First of all this product works wonders. I have been using it for the last couple of months and the difference in my body is amazing. Its not like the change you get from just going to the gym. Its more than that. I have been reading all of these reviews and its pretty funny. The machine is not that heavy and although there are a few pieces you have to put on yourself its not hard. People of course if your not in shape you will think its impossible to do but its not. It helps you get in the best shape. Just hang in there. Try hard and focus.

Quick Results!

3/29/2008 - Kay of Oregon, USA writes:

I'm older, not an athelete, and I'm a small person. Using this chair 2-3 times a week, I've seen changes for the better. I feel more energy, am stronger, and overall in much better health than before I bought the product. I love the Malibu Pilates. Like with any other exercise, I've found myself able to do some more advanced exercises as I do the workouts. So if you invest your time and keep a regular schedule, you will see results. :-)

Malibu Pilates is a Big Ripoff

3/9/2008 - Kathleen of North Carolina, USA writes:

This product is grossly overrated and only friends of the manufacturer could possibly have anything positive to say about this cheaply constructed, difficult to use contraption, not to mention the grossly deceptive advertising, which convinced me that the total price was $14.95, not over $300., as the bill said. it was never once mentioned that $14.95 was not the total price. Don't waste your money on this piece of junk!!

If you are not in shape, the exercises are impossible to duplicate. It is hard to use and the bars are painful to my feet.

not for everyone

2/24/2008 - paula of Washington, USA writes:

I was anxious to receive and try this chair, it looked like it would help me slim and trim myself without a lot of effort. I wish product information had been more specific, it weighs over 40 lbs. and is not easily set up. It's supposed to be easy to fold up and store, maybe if you're a body builder. I had to return it and now I'm out over $60 in shipping for something I couldn't use.

It works!

No mattter if you are big or small or what size you are. You will have a better sculpted body resulting in a better fit of your clothes despite whether your objective is or is not to lose weight. Using the bench you will look better no matter what your objective.
