Hi there. I just dyed my hair on Monday ( 5/19/08 ) and used color 6.4. My hair naturally is a medium brown with natural light highlights. I decided to go a bit red. This shade closely matched my natural color so I purchased it. This is a two step process and it includes everything that you will need. The first step and what I will call the base color is easy enough to do and came out great, if not a bit brassy but that is the color I chose. The second step is the highlighting part. It is not an easy step if you have long hair as I do as the high light color did not color the bottom part of my hair, and I have clumps of color throughout my hair that looks extremely bright. Now the two little things they give you to choose from to highlight can be improved. The over sized mascara wand bent, and the small flat iron looking thing was pulling my hair out. *** Please note that since I am not an expert at highlighting, the messed up highlights are my fault. I should have gotten a friend to help. *** Overall: It is a good product, I loved the base color before the highlights I put in and screwed up. I would advise that if you have long/thick hair to have someone help you with the highlights as mine did not come out right at all. I have to say that my hair did not turn orange and for that I am grateful. Thank you.

I bought this in Ginger Twist 6.4 and followed the directions exactly as I should have. The dye only took to my roots, turning them bright orange whilst the rest of my hair remained brown and slightly fried. I've dyed my hair many times before and have never experienced anything like this and I really couldn't conjure a single reason as to why this happened. I didn't even bother using Step 2 in fear of my hair falling out. Thanks.

After year of highliting my hair @ the salon, I decided to save $60+ every two months. I tried Loreal Couleur Expert, color 8.3. The color came out great, none of friends could tell I used the box stuff. After a couple of months, I needed to highlight again. I bought the same color as before... Except this time MY HAIR IS ORANGE!! It's sunday so my haircolorist is not at her shop. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and she probably won't work tomorrow either. Do not buy this stuff!!

I have long hair and I wanted light brown highlights. WELL I read the directions. I did it as they said but by the time I went around my head I had different color highlights all the way around my head. I had orange hair in the front and light orange on the side and in the back was the color I wanted. SO it took me a while to be able to get out of the house. I called them and they told me to color it again to cover the orange....DID NOT WORK. I was UPSET. Now 8 months later I am still trying to get the orange out. NEVER AGAIN

I have always had problems with color because of my course dry hair. I took a chance and not only did my hair come out great BUT it did not fall out. All the comments were favorable and EVERYONE thought it was professional. The only thing I will use from now on.

This product works just fine. I've actually got compliments. The collection could use more colors though; I like dying my hair black with brown highlights.

My hair turned purple. And I mean PURPLE. Spent a week washing with dish washing detergent before I could go out of the house. Loreal customer service did refund my money and didn't seem to be all that surprised. I should have taken a picture - I am not kidding - PURPLE.

I have very long hair so i know that i have to purchase 2 boxes if i want all of my hair to look nice. With the price being so high i declined on trying it untill lastnight. I got it on sale. i picked a color almost the same as my own. the first step looks great. the highlights though didn't work. the mixture was crumbly and a hassle. i finally got all of my highlights done. i waited the full 15 min. and rinsed my hair only to find that step two didn't work. next time i'll just spend mroe time in the sun.
