I used my brother's ListenUp and I honestly now think they should change to ListenCrap. If you touched it - then you heard your finger. That was the extent of its uses. 0 stars. Also, these positive reviews are a little suspicious in my opinion - nobody actually talks like that.

I can actually hear the aliens from Mars laughing at me for buying this piece of c**p. Save your money and don't buy this junk

It's great for amplifying the sound of anything against the case--like your clothing, fingers, the earphone cord. Basically anything that touches the unit when it's on is greatly amplified. Unfortunately, hearing the TV or radio better isn't what this thing does. For eavesdropping, you'd be better off with an ear horn--it would work better and be less conspicuous.

I saw this product on an infomercial in the middle of the night. I didn't need it for anything, but I thought it looked interesting and I could probably use it for something in the future. So I called the number, and it asked me to punch in my credit card # in the first couple minutes. I did, but I wasn't expecting a million questions after that. After about 20 questions asking if I wanted another one or other services, I just hung up the phone and went to sleep. Two weeks later, low and behold! It comes in the mail, even though I never confirmed my order, or even finished out the phone call. So I thought since I paid for it, I might as well try it out. The thing was just all static. I couldn't hear anything through it and it was a total waste of money. All for a piece of plastic and headphones. I did send it back, though, and they gave me a full refund, so I can't be that mad. The product was lame, though.

I am so happy to be able to hear my children, family and friends again.Last year I paid $4,000 for hearing aids that did not suit my needs. When my daughter gave me Listen Up to wear while attending my 90th birthday celebration, I was amazed. My family was amazed also. They said the did not even notice the device. But they did notice not being asked to repeat themselves. :) My one request would be that the ear inserts be smaller or in the shape of funnel with tube unto ear canal (perhaps spongy like an ear plug?). This I believe would make a tighter fit and eliminate the problem I have with them falling out all the time. My daughter is working hard trying to attach some sort of clip onto the ear pieces. Until she (or you) come up with a solution, I will just have to keep on pushing them back in. And I tell you it is worth the extra effort. To have conversation with the people I love and not have to ask them to repeat is wonderful. I actually am paying attention to conversation again.

So I got it for my grandfather who is in a home and needs to be able to watch the tv at night without his roommate quietly. If for ANYTHING at all, it's only plus is eavesdropping. Even that is horrible. Plus, it's like testing a microphone. When anything (including wind) touches it, you hear this horribly loud sound. Do Not Buy

basic physics: ALL sounds will be amplified particularly low frequency background noises..for sure do not expect a sound filter for 14$...

I ordered the Listen UP in February and was promptly charged for it on my credit card. Today is May 16 and I still have not received it. There is not a customer service location that I can find. I sent BAMZU an e-mail (BAMZU is the portal for this product) and they have not had the courtesy to answer my e-mail. I am totally disgusted with my experience and was not even given the chance to try the product.

Great product. Snagged 2 deer that day, all because I ListenUp, and the deer didn't. If you hunt, you HAVE to have this product!!

My wife got me this because I have a hard time hearing the TV. I could actually hear the TV better without it. The sound is horrible.

Well, I have not personally tried this product but it seems like a novel idea. If you would want to listen to tv while using this without interference from objects in your line-of-sight, perhaps try placing the Listen Up directly in front of the TV and then listening to it via a bluetooth stereo headset. They usually come with a dongle that you plug into an audio device such as this Listen Up, and then you simply have a pair of wireless headphones to listen to the amplified sound with. Volume would also be controlled on these headphones separately from Listen Up's volume. Just an idea.

They might as well take a shit into a cardboard box and send it to people! I feel like kicking someone's ass because this poorly manufactured thing is nothing more than that. I luckily had mine given to me as a gift by a family friend so I did not waste any of my own money. It made me feel even better about that fact when I chucked the mother fucker out the window of my moving car! DO NO waste your money.

Seriously, I find it funny that people expected this thing to be able to filter out background noise. It's common sense that it won't. It'll just amplify them. But nevertheless, my grandmother decided she needed one. After using it, she effectively described the experience; "It made it feel like my ears were bleeding." If an old lady can say this... something's wrong with this product.

3/28/2008 - Blane of Missouri, USA writes:
This is the biggest piece of shit product I've ever received. Holding my hands up to my ear in a cup-shape does more for my hearing than this. I would return this, but I broke it with my hammer.

3/16/2008 - Ero of CA, USA writes:
Do not buy this product! They say that it makes listening to the TV and conversations easier, but it actually makes them harder to hear. Not only that, the stupid thing hurts your ears since it amplifies anything that touches the product's case, but pretty much nothing more than 3 feet away. This item is a total scam and the company knows it. It's a cheap piece of junk microphone in a plastic case that probably damages your hearing.

I bought this product because I saw it advertised on TV and thought that it would be great to hear people coming when I am in my room masturbating... I was wrong. At first when I got the "Listen Up" it seemed like a great product, I could hear every little sound around me. But the other day I was jerking off in my room expecting to hear the door open if someone came in, when by the time I heard anything it was already too late, I was startled to find my 5 year old daughter staring at me and a young Latina girl on the computer... don't trust this product.

this is a worthless piece of junk. in addition they sent me 2 when i ordered i-but you can't reach them so i cancelled one from my credit card

1/18/2008 - Em of Ohio, USA writes:
I ordered this item thinking my husband could listen to the tv in bed at a low volume so as to not wake me up, but in order to hear the tv he had to turn it up and any noise in between him and the tv was amplified in his ears. Even the movement of sheets sounded horribly loud as well as the product itself when moved. I'm sending it back.

1/14/2008 - Jack of Ohio, USA writes:
Wish I'd read these reviews before I got fleeced. Worst purchase I can ever remember making. What all the other 1 stars say X 10. Junk, junk, junk.

1/7/2008 - James of Massachusetts, USA writes:
This Listen Up Personal Amplifier does not work at all. All you hear is like and echo and to hear the television or music you need to turn up the TV to regular hearing levels. This defeats the whole purpose of this device. I bought it so I could watch TV while my spouse was sleeping and this piece of crap doesn't work.
