I bought sixty of these for our new energy efficient home, trouble is, all the walls are heavily insulated and the darn things will not turn. Would appear to only works in hollow walls with sufficient space between the sheetrock. Absolutely of no value to me, might work for some.

We bought these to use in my Mother-in-law's apartment to hang pictures and some knick-knacks. We wanted something easy to use and move, that wouldn't damage the walls any more then we had to, and that would hold securely. These went in just fine into drywall. They do leave a hole about the size of a nail, not a pin, but less then a molly-bolt or other such drywall anchor. And these took a lot less time as well. They don't work where there is a stud, as has been noted, but then you could just use a nail there. I've used them in my house to hang things as well, and am happy with the results.

I researched this product thoroughly before buying it, because I had about 10 pieces worth of fine art, all weighing around 13-20lbs. I had no intention of using anchors for all these pieces and wanted a simple solution. I told my girlfriend about these, as I saw them on a commercial... she was skeptical at first but after reading reviews (like on this site), I took a chance. 4 hours later I have all 10 pieces hanging wonderfully. I must say I didn't trust them enough to only use 1, so I used 2 hooks for each piece, which puts a maximum weight distribution of 10lbs each. So far, they are all still on my wall and I couldn't be happier. The hole is NOT the size of a pin hole, it's the size of a nail, but who really believed that anyway? Anyway, before I hung up expensive art, I took a 20lb barbell, a Hercules Hook, and a rope, and tested it out. Must say 1 hook held the 20lb bell very well, I even put additional pressure to see if I noticed slippage or wall breaking, and I didn't see any... with this said I can honestly see it holding at least 50lbs per hook with no problem. Here is the proof I said I had: [] The only problem I had with this product was what others mentioned, which was when the spacing between walls wasn't enough to allow the hook to pivot upward (hits the wall behind it)... on this section of drywall I used anchors -- but I didn't get all pissed, this is natural and very understandable. I've recommended this to my father and went out and purchased another pack. The laser level isn't great, but it is definitely helpful. I used it to hang all my pieces and it worked like a charm... just don't expect a $50 laser level for free. I'd also recommend not buying from TV and just going to [] a store that sells similar products. Overall this product gets a 5/5 EASILY.

I tried this product when we moved to Florida. The hook went through the wall fairly easy, but kept hitting the sheetrock on the opposite wall and would not turn into place. The hole the hook left was much larger than advertised.

I think hercules hooks are the greatest invention ever!! They make hanging pictures so much easier and I love the laser leveler that came with them. Only con is they won't go through a stud, but no big deal you just use a nail! Best thing I have ever used to hang things on sheet rock where there isn't a stud. I hung a 35 lb. mirror...no problem.

This hook system looked good in the infomercial but in reality it performed very poorly. It will not hold any were close to the stated 150 pounds. On TV it shows 150 pounds of weights hanging on the wall, but if you notice they use at least 5 hooks to do this.

I buy A LOT of products off of TV and have experienced my share of duds, but this one is a keeper. They sell them retail now, so when we ran out - I went and bought more at my local linen store. They work just like they say. The heaviest item I hung was a mirror about 20lbs - so I cannot attest for heavier. I can say I DID NOT try them on my 100lb mirror. Don't care what the ad sez - I used screws for that! For alllll of our other pictures and stuff - they were great!! The only thing I can say negative at all is that the hole they leave is the diameter of a thin nail - not the pinhead hole they kind of imply that it leaves

We buillt a house 5 years ago, bought lots of pictures, and then didn't want to mess up the walls. My husband put up the first picture, fairly easily. You do have to wrestle the hook in once you turn it, using pliers. I am now hanging all the other pictures, fairly quickly and easily. I could never have hung pictures myself any other way.

I just wanted to hang my family photos around the house. It did the job fine. I don't know if I'd be so bold to hang a heavy mirror but I'm happy with the product.

After trying to hang a mirror in the bathroom and having to pull out two sheetrock hangers which left huge holes..I then patched the holes but was unable to use any more for it would tear into the area that was already damaged..I saw the imfocommercial but didnt want to order on line..saw it was available at []..they realy did go in fairly easy and within 3 minutes I had hung my 20 lb mirror..Still holding 2weeks later..I think they are great!!!

I usually chuckle at informercials, especially when Billy Mays, but some of the stuff he pushes, including the Hurcules Hook, sure seem cool. I ran across a package of the product in a drug store (great way to avoid shipping and handling fees). Like a fool I decided to give this thing a try at 11:00 PM on a Saturday. I am not a handy guy around the house, and I have used a few different picture hanging devices that are supposed to make life easier, but they never have - until this product came along. First off, I realized the first time I saw this product that it would only work in cases where there was enough space behend dry wall for it to work in, but that covers most picture hanging in my life and, as my wife noted, no product works for *all* situations. I held up the picture to get the height the way my wife likes it, then put a small mark at the top of the frame in the center (which when I read the instructions just happened to be where they recommend the hook hole be placed - about 1/4 inch above where you desire the hook to end up). So I grabbed a hook, read the instructions (I'm that kind of guy), did what they said (press and turn the hook back and forth like a key), and the hook went in. It all took about 10 seconds including the time to make sure it was in as far as possible and positioned upright. The hook easily fit the teeth on the saw-tooth hanger on the picture. I hung it, then adjusted it a tooth to the left and that was that. Total elapsed time from when I started: about 1 to 2 minutes. In the 49 years I've been around this was the easiest hanging job I ever did. Not sure if it will work in the fire wall (we live in a town house), but if it doesn't I'll use the pin hole as a starter hole for a screw. Not a bad product at all so far. In short, it was everything Billy Mays said it would be.

It actually worked. Hung a heavy mirror on drywall with ease. My home has several hundred hanging items so I like these hooks.

5/16/2007 - Bonnie of Florida, USA writes:
The only problem with these hooks is that the part of the hook that you hang items on is very narrow and thicker items will not fit on these hooks. Also, the angle of the hook can be hard to work with.

My wife wanted to buy these at a local Showcase store (where they sell products advertised primarily in infomercials). I was skeptical, but the price was reasonable and we had some heavy items to hang. The holes are certainly no smaller than a nail, but if you're working with drywall these are significantly easier to use, and much better than typical drywall anchors. My only complaint is that drilling something all the way through a wall is a little scary. I obviously can't see behind it, and have a definite fear of accidentally skewering an electrical wire or something like that. Be aware of where you're using them, certainly.

I bought them through the infomercial, so I probably got screwed on the shipping, and the "free" laser level I got was an inaccurate piece of junk. Big shocker there. As for the Hercules Hooks themselves, though, I couldn't be happier with them. Yes, they only work on certain types of wall, but sheetrock / drywall on 2x4 studs is pretty common. I had no problem at all pushing the hook through by hand (you can twist a little and "drill" through), and I even removed and reused a hook when I decided I didn't like where something was hanging. The hole is tiny, especially compared to a conventional toggle bolt or wall anchor--just a dab of spackle, or even toothpaste, and it's gone. I hung a 15-lb. wrought-iron-framed mirror in minutes, with no tools! Honestly, I used to dread having to hang pictures or mirrors, but now it's no problem!

The first time I used one it came in a small bag on the back of a picture we bought for the office, and I've tried to use these ever since. No they do not glide through the wall like butter, and you are often at an odd angle or height trying to twist & push, but they do work. 150 lbs? I don't know about that, but the office picture was over 30 lbs. and it's still there (5 years later). They are sold else where for less with no S&H. Note: As with all "Life Time Supplies" this is not a good deal, the S&H is over $10.00. OK if they only sent them to you when you ordered more, but not every few months. I don't know about you, but once I have most of my items hung, I may only need 10 more hooks for the rest of my life! Still I do like the product.

Could not get hook into sheet rock without tearing up the area trying to put in . Whun finally got in would not present at the angle needed. Ruined the wall still had to use hook. Bought 2 pkgs, What a waste. Thank goodness only opened one. I am not one to complain. Would not waste my money. Hope company goes back to drawing board. Good Concept if it worked.

3/20/2007 - Jackie of New Hampshire, USA writes:
Push and twist my eye! The hook did NOT go through the drywall as easily as shown on tv. I finally gave up and used a hammer to gently "tap" it in. So far so good...the clock hasn't fallen off the wall.....yet. The hole it makes,IS just as big as a nail. I liked the free laser level that came with the hooks!

3/7/2007 - Jerrold of Florida, USA writes:
Bought it through TV commercial overpaid for shipping! Product could only hang one large picture out of 4 I tried to hang. The heavy mirror and other large paintings with heavier frames either slipped off the small hook area or started to rip through the drywall and/or I couldn't get the hooks through because of too little space on the inside of the wall.

3/5/2007 - Laurie of Illinois, USA writes:
I really like this product. I had bought 2 wrought (?) iron shelves and I used 2 hooks each and they are still holding up on the wall. I really enjoy that heavy items can be hung with ease :)
