Money saver, Time saver

5/14/2008 - Melody of california, usa writes:

Makes it so easy when there is only one or two people to buy bulk and split it up for individual use. I use it to seal coffee in smaller portions. Also used for crackers be careful not to over vacuum causing crackers to crumble. For me to use on a regular bases I need to have it out. So I hung it up which helps with use of counter space yet I can take it down if needed for use. If you do any camping it's a must make your meals (ie spaghetti) then use as boiling bags, after dinner you have clean hot water to do the dishes in. Also seal ice cubes to keep in the cooler, later you can use it for drinking water. There are so many uses. I have given a few as gifts. enjoy

Love it and can't live without it

4/21/2008 - Calgarygirl of Alberta, Canada writes:

My husband bought the V550 from [] for me many years ago. It sucked very little bit of air out with no problems. One day I used another "as seen on tv" item to mince onion without getting it all mushy and liquidy. I went to suck and seal it and before I could stop it, the juice got squeezed out and sucked into the motor and now it doesn't work. I was so mad at myself and missed it so much and after living without it for a week, I bought another one but newer model. I am happy again. I now have more buttons and features.

Has Stood the Test of Time.

4/1/2008 - Geoffrey of OKC, OK, USA writes:

When I first got one of these soon after they came out, I was very dissatisfied--the sealer element didn't work very well. Friendly customer service sent me a new unit. Putting the unit away for a backup, I purchased a competing product that was an upgraded version (hands free)--it didn't hold up well. I then got out the stored old Foodsaver--this one has lasted for several years, maybe over a decade. Tilia has fixed very well the serious problems of the initial units. I use this product with vacuum bags, vacuum canisters, and for re-sealing plastic/mylar product bags almost every day: The devices are really useful in many ways--virtually all owners of them agree. When mine gives out, I'll stay with Tilia--it's very obvious that they're a "durable" company that's here to stay--they're definitely the Kings for producing this type of product and accessories!

I Love My FoodSaver

3/4/2008 - D. of Arizona, USA writes:

My husband bought me a FoodSaver for my birthday 4 years ago. I have used it 1-2 times a week since then and it is absolutely wonderful. I use it mainly to freeze leftovers so they don't spoil and go to waste. I save microwavable TV dinner trays, wash them, and use our homemade leftovers to create my own TV dinners to take to work for lunch. None of those chemicals or additives you find in the fine print on the back of TV dinner boxes! Plus I am able to buy meats in bulk and keep them for a year in our chest freezer. You just pop a frozen roast in a crock pot and 8 hours later you come home and the house smells like a genuine home cooked meal. The square marinade container works great on meats we cook on the grill. The first time I used it, it was awkward. But then I read the instructions and watched the video (should have done that first!), and once I learned how it worked, it was a breeze.

foodsaver

1/30/2008 - jon of California, USA writes:

WE bought a foodsaver food storage vacuum machine. It worked satisfactorily for the first 9 months but then started to take longer to vacuum the bag. We put up with this for awhile and finally called the company. After explaining the problem, they said the cause was most likely a worn gasket. Here's the clincher: the one dollar special rubber gasket was not available for purchase. We would have to buy a whold new machine. Planned opsolesence if you ask me. I will never buy another one of this company's products. Jon

I love mine

1/27/2008 - Donna of Arizona, USA writes:

My mom got me a food saver for Christmas. I have been wanting one for years and was really excited to finally have one and it has more than lived up to my expectations. I can make a huge salad and keep it for two weeks using this product and after two weeks the lettuce is a fresh as the day I made the salad (I use the pulse feature for this). I am looking forward to finding new uses for my foodsaver.

Love it!!

1/9/2008 - Lauren of Arizona, USA writes:

I have owned this product for 3 years and use it almost every day. It's great for keeping food fresh, storing food in the freezer, and keeping bugs out of dry goods. The replacement bags are expensive, but worth it to save money on food that would have otherwise spoiled.

A good product but...

1/3/2008 - Fred of Delaware, USA writes:

A quality well built product that does what the makers claim. It lives up to the commercials. it's easy to use and looks like it will hold up for quite awhile. The only negative thing I can say about it is I feel that the bags that you need are too expensive.

Great Product

12/12/2007 - Larry of Kansas, USA writes:

We have had a Foodsaver for several years and love it. One thing I've learned is to use the Foodsaver bags. We tried other "cheaper" brands and have had problems with them staying sealed in the freezer. Not so with the Foodsaver bags. We bought some of the storage canisters and they work great. I hesitated buying one of these for several years because I've been burned on other informercial products. After using the Foodsaver, I wish I'd purchased one years ago. I would recommend this product to everyone. If you follow the instructions, it will work as intended and you won't ruin it.

Terrific Product

12/11/2007 - Mark of Wisconsin, USA writes:

I've owned three Food Savers, currently on a Professional model. The first broke after 2-3 years of steady use. Tilia offered to fix it if I shipped it to them, but the repair was going to cost almost as much as a new one. Gave the second one to our daughter when we upgraded. Use it for everything so we keeo it on the counter alwasy ready to seal at a moment's notice. The ability to stop the sealing to avoid crushing the product is great. Just remember to wash and reuse the bags. If you don't, it could get expensive.

have bought a second one

10/7/2007 - Barbara of Virginia, USA writes:

I bought my first SoodSaver about 5 years ago and managed to use up the strip which seals the bags. I liked it well enough to call and since it was not cost worthy to send it to be repaired(they would not send out the part) I bought a more recent machine and I truly like it and use it often!

Love it

10/1/2007 - Louise of California, USA writes:

We've had a foodsaver for a couple years, and use it all the time. In addition to the normal uses of packaging bulk food for the freezer, we use it several times a day to reseal bags such as for cereal, chips, frozen vegetables, etc. Accessories that we use alot are the lids that allow you to vaccuum in standard canning jars. These were purchased separately from an on-line source. They're not very expensive, and overall saves alot rather than getting a bunch of foodsaver canisters. At this point, we consider the foodsaver an essential appliance.

Good investment

9/17/2007 - Anthony of Alabama, USA writes:

I took a chance and bought my first one back in 2000-2001. It worked GREAT. I ruined it with juice from food..which was the only drawback or problem I had with it. I learned to pre-freeze the really wet stuff, or create a larger than needed bag, and that resolved that issue. I am on my third one and it has been going strong without any problems. The second one was dropped on concrete and the sealer shorted out. I use it mainly to preserve seafood. I make one trip a year to Florida to visit old Navy friends and relatives. During the visit, I buy as much as 200lbs of snapper, gulf, white, and royal red shrimp. The Foodsaver allows me to seal it, label/date it with a sharpie, and everything keeps in the deep freezer for over a year. The sharp tips of the shrimp tails use to poke through and ruin the vacuum of the bags, but clipping the ends (though time consuming) resolved the problem. Freezer burned Jumbo shrimp is NOT a pretty OR cheap site. I can usually reuse the bags 3 or more times. Just trim the opening, flip them inside out and top shelf them in the dishwasher. I have used it to seal whole pans of brownies for care packages sent to friends serving in the Middle East. After about 2 years of mailing brownies and other goodies, no one has complained about any of the food arriving dry or stale. Some of them even send the bags back. A good wash and sterilize, and they are good as new. I haven't had any problems ordering more rolls, orders have been correct (to date), orders arrive well within time frame, and no 'funny business' with my credit card either. Great company and product. Oh, I haven't used the canister feature at all, so I can't speak on that feature.

Great product 97% of the time!

9/3/2007 - Shawn of New Jersey, USA writes:

I have one of the smaller models. I bought it mainly to store beef jerky. It works great 97% of the time. A few times it won't seal properly is my only complaint and I have to cut another bag and try again. Would I buy another one if I had to?! Sure thing. I'd get a larger model though. I should have went for that from the start.

A definite thumbs up

8/31/2007 - Lorraine of Ontario, Canada writes:

Have owned Foodsaver since 2002 and love it. Keeps food for 2-3 years in freezer and no burn, and still fresh. I reuse most bags 3-5 times over, so cut extra long to start out. You'll know it's time to give it up if it won't hold the air anymore. For foods with just a little juice, can place a folded paper towel inside to absorb it, otherwise pre-freeze. For re-using bags, good idea to wrap food 1st loosely in cellophane, so as to not soil inside of saver bag, then wash up later is easier. I haven't used the cannisters much, but they work well, however what I don't like is that they're not stackable. Once you get the hang of it, this is a superb product, and I'm sure the newer versions are even better.

Works as advertised

7/25/2007 - Don of North Carolina, USA writes:

This product is great. Just the 2 of us. So we buy in bulk. We marinate and keep in the freezer for months and everything comes out as fresh as the day we bought it. We keep the sealing area clean and we have no problems.

Love this thing!!!

7/2/2007 - Beth of Alabama, USA writes:

We bought a Tilia Food Saver as we like to buy in bulk even though there are just the 2 of us. It worked so well keeping food frozen and without freezer burn that we upgraded to one with a place to put the roll of bag makers and a built-in bag roll cutter!!!

Works Great

5/21/2007 - Cindy of California, USA writes:

I bought the food saver at my [] several years ago. I love it. I bought some cheese in bulk and cut it into smaller chunks, then vacume sealed them in bags. I have had them in my fridge for over a year and they are still good. I took one out recently and used it for company, no problems. I have also used it for camping. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

Great Product!

5/7/2007 - Shelton of Tennessee, USA writes:

Being a hunter and fisherman, sometimes I bring home large quantities of meat. This device gives me fresh meat without freezer burn for long periods of time. I'm still eating buffalo that is over 2 years old, and it's still good. Before, fish was deteriating in about 3 months. Now I can easily get a year out of them. Make sure you have a complete vacuum though. Sometimes you don't get a perfect closure. Also works great for camping. No more water logged foods, or bloody water. I even crack my eggs and put them in for the amount per serving. Three egg omelet? Corn bread? etc... No problem. Just mix before you leave, seal it up, toss in the cooler with ice, and enjoy when you want. A permanent marker works well with identifying the contents too! I wish I had one 30 years ago!
