Excellent Charity

1/3/2008 - Jerrald of Oklahoma, USA writes:

I have been giving to this charity for years. It is a well run organization, and Charity Navigator continues to give it 4 stars.

Feed the children is well run

12/3/2007 - Rob of New York, USA writes:

Before I selected a charity to help children I evaluated Save the Children and Feed the Children. Both, have high ratings with [] and spend almost 90% of the money raised helping kids. While both have you "adopt" a child, actually your money is pooled and does not go to the individual child, but helps a bunch of children in that village. I ultimately chose Save the Children, but both are needed, worthy charities.

Feed the Children - Scam?

10/6/2007 - Mary of Texas, USA writes:

I contributed to this organization for many years and sponsored three children. I was shocked when I received a letter from my "child" addressed to someone else - apparently they got the letters mixed up and put into the wrong envelopes. When I wrote and called to find out an explanation, I received none. I told them I would not contribute another dime until someone could give a good explanation. My feeling is they used the same photo for multiple people, these kids probably don't even exist. I gave this organization thousands of dollars, what a sad thing. I think it is best to give when you know the money will really be used by the intended recipient.

Feed The Children

10/5/2007 - Paul of Nevada, USA writes:

My wife so touched by this "Feed The Children" infomercial that she was getting out her credit card before it was even over. I was somewhat dubious about a Charity that could find a way to buy 11 million pounds of rice but had not thought about the shipping charges? After doing a small amount of research I found that this Charity was not what they seemed. Bad marks from Charity watch dog groups made up my mind. I think your money would be better spent, by finding a cab driver from Kenya and sending money to his folks back home.

Scam not worth money

8/15/2007 - Stan of New York, USA writes:

Save the children advertises that they need to ship 5,000 metric tons of grain to Africa. After sending them $10 I continue to see ads for the same shipment. If they had just spent the advertising money to ship the grain it would already be there. Shipping is not that expensive, advertising is. Their focus seems to be on raising money and not spending it on kids.

Feed the Children is a Scam

5/14/2007 - Angel of Iowa, USA writes:

I called this company and they sent me 2 pictures of children, 1 girl from the Dominican Republic and 1 boy from India, that needed to be sponsered. I decided to sponser them both. When I sent the information back with the first payment, I was told that the boy had been sponsered by someone else, I decided to keep the picture and information anyway. They sent me another picture of another boy to sponser, I can't remember where he was from(supposedly). About 1 or 2 months later, I got a picture of another boy that, "Desperately", needed to be sponsered, it was the same picture of the boy they sent me the first time, only this time they gave him another name a younger age and said he was from somewhere in South America. I pulled my funding immediately. I think they just go to countries and take pictures of children so they can use the pictures to gain peoples' empathy and money. The rest is fiction.

Let the buyer beware

5/7/2007 - Don of California, USA writes:

When it comes to charity giving, I strongly recommend it--however, I also strongly recommend that people investigate the charities. For example, the American Institute of Philanthropy (which describes many legitimate and some questionable charities) gives FTC an "F" grade. Less that 20% of the money they receive (and they get millions) goes to the services they claim to provide, while 60% or more goes to fund raising. Be sure that for every $100 you give, you'll be happy with less than $20 actually going to children.

feed the children

2/25/2007 - Patsy of Florida, USA writes:

We have been supporting this organization for a couple of years or more and we have found that it is all and more it says it is. You can know that the money you give will be used just for the purpose of feeding children. They are doing a wonderful work.

Good charity

6/28/2006 - Bell of Virginia, USA writes:

I been giving to this charity and so far, I'm happy with it. They send newsletters about what they doing and from time to time I get small gifts for support them, letters and many other litterature that make me believe that this organization is serious in what they are doing, keeping in touch with their supporters. They are In BBB too.

Worthy Cause

3/29/2006 - Cheryl of Ohio, USA writes:

It is my understanding that Charities are required to disclose how they use their money. Also, you can check with the BBB. I have contributed to this charity after looking into this organization. I was impressed at the time with how they use their money. They spend a great deal of the contributions towards food for Children. This was several years ago. I recommend that you investigate any charity organization before sending your money.
