I ended up getting this product for my dad a couple years back, I set it up and noticed that the reciever wouldn't really transmit through the walls so I just kept it right by the window, that worked fine. For months it worked just awesome and we all were impressed with it, but after a while it would start going off for no reason and even when someone did set it off it wouldn't shut off for about 45 seconds unless we had intervened and shut it off. We still kept it up but just left it off, every so often we would try turning it on and seeing if maybe maraculously it fixed itself but no. Shortly after I disassembled it to see if I could fix it, NOPE, I'm not an electrical engineer. About 6 months later I bought an $80 one from another store. I went to my parents home, set it up and it worked beautifully just like the Driveway Patrol did at first, though this one could transmit through walls and it also had the feature to have multiple sensors that could all be heard off of the same receiver, just with different tones. RS had offered me a one or two year warranty on it for an additional $20, I said no, not for 25% more. Again after a few months later it began going off all the time. My parents still have it up and I need to see if I can fix it but yeah, I should of got the warranty on it. As for the Driveway Patrol, one thing that I noticed as a disadvantage, is that if it is close to the driveway, if you are traveling over 15 mph past it, it won't go off, the other one would, but not the Driveway Patrol. Now I've been willing to try and give Driveway Patrol another shot just because I know two people who've had them for over 5 years or so and it still works fine for them. In conclusion, this product is worth the money, the idea is good, just I don't know if the one I got was defective or if it is just all the Seattle rain, lol.

I had a few break ins to my car that sat in my driveway. I purchased this, and it was worth the money. I havent had any problems with people on my property SINCE. The sensor can be a little annoying...it picks up wind, and the occasional stray cat walking by, but Id rather have the false alarms. I say go for it, it worked for me.

This product works well for us, sometimes too well. Our monitor is in a spare bedroom and picks up very well from our mailbox where the sensor is located several feet away. The only problem is that it picks up too well sometimes (birds, the wind blowing leaves from surround trees, etc.

It would be OK if you were 10 feet away & had no walls on your house. Advertized for 400'-- NOT--Wouldn't transmit through walls or door & only worked when both units were outside & no more than 20' away
