Product Description
Brethe is an air filter. The Brethe unit is supposed to help with cigarette smoke, pet odors, asthma, kitchen odors, and household odors. The Brethe unit contains water and botanicals that remove dirt and particles, resulting in a mist that attaches to odor-causing molecules. The room is instead left with scented air. I'm pretty sure these "botanical" scents are nothing more than pine cleaner with some smell added, but the pine's definitely and highly prevalent. Reacts just like it in water anyway. As far as cleaning the air, it doesn't move enough air to clean it. I think the technology has potential but needs a great deal of improvement over this unit. It merely overpowers any odors you have, and I mean overpowers. It's all but toxic. Burns my eyes and throat. My concern is breathing pine cleaner constantly pumped into the air day and night. How good can that be for you? What is this doing to your lungs? I DO NOT recommend breathing these so called "botanicals" until and unless they are FDA approved which I highly doubt will ever happen. My sinuses have been a mess since I started using this, and I'm considering legal action to ascertain safety. Use at your own risk.

I purchased a Brethe Air machine a couple months ago and was so excited and couldn't wait to get it. I will admit that it smells up your house but I wish that you had better scents. I received 4 with my unit and they all have a soapy smell to them. That is not what I was looking for. I love the smell of vanilla but this was not what I would call a vanilla smell. I also love the smell of Cinnamon and wished that you would come out with a true cinnamon and vanilla scent. Also, the container is not up to my standards. It's hard to clean. As of yesterday my front lights went out which I am very upset about. This could be an excellent product with some improvements.

I saw the informercial during the night and immediately went online to find a store to purchase it cuz I wanted it right away. I bought one and tried it and loved it. I went back to the store the next day and bought two more. I have one in the kitchen, one in the livingroom and one in my home office. Then I bought one for my bedroom. Having dogs and one cat I was always burning candles or spraying air freshner. Now I just have to fill the Brethe plastic bowl with handle up with water every morning and turn it on. The thing works immediately so if someone is coming to visit all you have to do is turn a Brethe on instead of spraying air freshner. I love waking up in the morning to a fresh house. If one of my Brethe machines breaks I will run out and buy a new one. Actually the dogs chewed the cord on my livingroom one and I did run out that evening and bought a new one. I am saving a lot of money with the Brethe because I don't have to buy air freshner and candles anymore. A bottle of the Brethe liquid lasts a long time and overall is cheaper than buying all those other air freshners. The bottle takes up less space too. I think this machine should be in every home and office. Its that amazing. I recommend buying more than one.

This product works and is quiet but the water has to be refilled daily. I don't have time for that. The frangrances are very irritating so I use plain water.

UPDATE: After using this product for 6+ months, I have comments to add to my previously positive ones. Effectively cleaning the unit is not what I would call easy. The unit cannot be dissassembled to remove accumulated oil residue. The residue is yellowish-brown. The best way is to use Q-Tips but it still doesn't remove it to my satisfaction. Leaves me with the feeling that I am polluting the air in my home instead of "washing" it. The clear plastic bowl becomes cloudy and ugly. Do like the night light feature. I've read complaints about the strong smell of the oils. That will dissipate over time as the unit is used and one becomes accustomed. Initially, the air in my home became fresh but since the accumulation of the oils, I no longer think that is so. It now does only an "okay" job and it is rather noisy. I still use it in my kitchen as it is better than having garlic or fish smells overpower the air, it seems to help some in that regard. The air, however, is not as dry as it would be without using the unit. The realization is that you only get what you pay for. I am eyeing a unit costing $300 that uses a totally different technology and far more effective. I don't think that anyone with asthma or other serious respiratory problem will benefit from the Brethe. As for the snoring problem which seemed to go away with use, I no longer have one in my bedroom and my husband's snoring has not reoccurred. I think his loss of weight is more of a contributor. Until they solve the oil accumulation problem which translates into ease of cleaning, I don't think they have what I would term an excellent product.

I was very excited to buy the Brethe Air Revitalizer because of the claims that it freshens the air for 24 hours. I set it up in the evening, added the recommended amount of fragrance and by the time I return from work the next day... nothing. I live in a small studio apartment with one window and a indoor only declawed cat. I can't open the place up to air it out and it gets pretty musty. I was hoping to finally walk into a fresh smelling apartment after work or staying the night at my boyfriends. I would not recommend for someone looking for 24 hour freshness.

I have mild asthma and find that my chest feels tight when using this product. Even with just a couple of drops of the botanicals in the water, the scent is too strong, and seems to just cover pet odors, rather than eliminating them, as advertized. I am planning to return it.

My husband & I have used this Brethe machine for about 3 weeks and we along with our dog is suffering breathing problems since using it. Our throats and lungs feel raw from breathing the strong smell of chorine, after the nice smell of citrus, vanilla or lime goes away. We went exactly by the instructions, 2 caps of solution w/water up to max. line. Don't buy it!(especially if you already have breathing problems) We are returning ours to the store for a refund.

Purchased Brethe today. We have 2 dogs and 5 cats and I couldn't take the odor in my home another day! I plugged it in and left the house for a couple of hours and couldn't believe the difference! The water turned a murky color and the air seems so much cleaner! Needless to say I am thrilled with the results. The vanila scent is wonderful! Highly recommended. Thanks Homedics!

This is a bad product. The fragrances all have a basic lysol smell. It's smell is so overwhelming I used half of the fragrance that the instructions say to use. My throat is still sore. The light is interesting but I never saw any evidence that contaminants were being pulled into the water. I do not see an asthmatic being able to use this product.

I purchased the infomercial deal of buy one and get one at half price. We have a 2,300 sq.ft. 2-story home. We have been using both units virtually day and night except when we are away from the house. The fragrances that come with the unit smell mostly like soap and not the exotic names on the bottles. However, soap is not such a bad smell. My main complaint is that the units are noisy and both broke within 4 months of purchase. The company has shipped one replacement and we are negotiating the return of the second unit.

I bought this unit on "sale" at []. Those rip-offs actually priced it at 79.00 and put it on sale for 59.00, so I thought I was getting a deal until I looked online and found that it actually RETAILS at 59.00. That's a whole nuther factor! But anyhow - I hooked the thing up, put some water in it and add MY OWN PURE ESSENTIAL OILS - and find that it works great. Usually I burn my oils over a candle light mixed with water, but this is safer and seems to last longer. My advice - DON'T buy the meesly 3 scents that homedics overprice and sell, but buy pure essential oils that you actually LIKE and use a few drops of them in the water. You'll get pure scent, save yourself some cash and not have to run back to the store to support Homedics! Nuff said!

When I saw this advertised, I liked the concept but I didn't expect it to do what it ultimately did. My husband has a terrible snoring problem; even surgery and every spray and strip never accomplished anything...a change of bedroom was the only solution. After having my Brethe unit on for about a week I noticed that I was sleeping through the night! My husband was not snoring!! Could it be that the Brethe was the reason? So, to prove it we visited my son and my husband snored his balding head off. I poked him all night long. When returned home, the Brethe took over, thankfully. We even took it on vacation with us. There is no other reason for his snoring to have ceased. I thank Brethe for now having a decent night's sleep....and he echoes my sentiments.

I bought this when it showed up at a local store. I have 4 cats and 2 dogs and all the smells that can bring and this works great. Yes, when you use the fragrance it only lasts 4 hours, but it continues to filter the air long after that. Pro: nice fragrances, cheap to use without the fragrances, sound doesn't scare the pets. Cons: fragances sold separately are a little more expensive than I would like, you have to unplug the unit to refill it because the placement of the on/off button makes it pretty hard to lay the unit down without turning it back on.

After reading the reviews, I purchased one at a local store. I am disappointed to say the least. When I use it my house smells like cheaply sented Pine-Sol and the sent lasts less than a day. It's nothing more than a $60 night light.

I was excited when I saw the first ad for this product since my son had once sold a similar but much larger and more expensive item for another company. I bought it as soon as I found it in a store. I agree that the scents are too strong as suggested in the owner's manual, so I use less. It is very quiet, but not silent, but I didn't find that a problem. My husband and I are both smokers and we have cats with their smelly litterboxes. It does a wonderful job removing the odor. I have also had a lot fewer sneezing fits since I started using it.

I saw this product a couple of times before deciding to purchase. Since I was recently pronounced 'athesmatic' instead of the typical 'allergic' and own several dogs, I thought it might help with that condition as well as the 'wet-dog' odor so common with a retriever. I can honestly say I breath better, sleep better, and the 'doggy' smell is gone. Yeah, I know what your thinking--the better sleeping/breathing is due to the head-game that the mere suggestion/desire for something to improve one's health. However, my husband made mention of the better breathing after several days of operation and he did NOT know what the heck the thing was supposed to do other than make the place smell less 'doggy'. I am happy with the product. I wish the bottles of botanicals were larger to reduce the plastic waste. I do find the recommended usage rate to be a bit high and results in an over-powering fragrance.

I think it's great. You change the water about every 2 days and it makes a huge difference in the air quality. I use about 1/5th of the botanical scents as the directions call for and it smells great. It makes a little bit of noise due to the swirling water but it's so cool and pretty so I don't mind the noise. A+, an actual informercial that provided a better than expected product.

A fantastic product, stylish silver design, super quiet running motor, the multi-colour LED plate is stunning. I have tried other Air Revitalizers and none even come close to this. I suffer with Asthma and this little beauty as changed my life! 10 out 10

I saw this infomercial on a sleepless night. My thoughts were that seemed so cool and might take care a if a few problems I have in my place. Namely my cat. I ordered two and split the cost with my mom, since the second (for the moment) is half off on the website, splitting the cost of the two absorbed the cost of shipping. After I received it and turned it on, in 5 minutes my entire condo (5 rooms) smelled incredibly great. My cat still smells when he does his thing, but it's barely noticeable now and only when I am in the storage closet. So as far as the aroma goes A+. But unlike the infomercial, my water isn't nearly as dirty as what they showed. In fact, I see no filthy water at all. Just the cloudy water from the botanicals. I also can not verify if it's killing germs. I didn't microscope anything before or after. So as a filter, I can't give any props since I can't see it work, even after days of use. As far as a night light goes, I like total darkness when I sleep. I have to cover the power button because you can't turn that light off, unless it's off. As far as I can tell, having the light dance around my room like that with all of it's lights on might be nauseating. The power button light might make a nice night light though. If you can take the noise (I like white noise) then sleeping with this on is incredible and I attribute my great nights of sleep to it. I recommend, but a concerning thing happened last night when i turned it on. after 3 minutes, it turned off by itself and then restarted several times. After that no issues
