could be better

I have the bowflex for 1 yr. I used it for 2 weeks before one of the cables derailed. i called and the costumer service representative helped me fix it. it last 2 weeks more. now it keeps derailing every ones in a while. it is not worth it the aggravation. But when it is in good working condition you can get a good workout out of it.

The Pros and Cons of Bowflex Revolution

6/14/2008 - Josefina of FL, United States writes:

My Bowflex Revolution arrived earlier than expected. It did arrive in five boxes. I was suppose to receive a promotional credit but when I went to pay it via one of their creditors, I learned that they don't process payments on the weekend so therefore, my payment went from 42 dollars to 91 after 2 payments. Because about time they processed the payment it was late. That makes me mad when, i'm trying to rebuild my credit, and the due date is different every month, so be careful. Overall the product, is great, I like it. Cons, it's not so portable, I had to empty out a bedroom for it and it's takes up a lot of space. Be prepared to spend several days putting this item together. Secondly, I hate all the stops you need to make to change over from one workout to another. I suggest that you watch the video thoroughly to get a better understanding on how to change over quickly, if you can accomplish that goal. Pros: If you like having a gym type work out at home, the Revolution is for you. I am doing the same things I did at my local workout place, except that I do not have to wait in line or come at a timeframe when there is hardly no one at the gym. I like the convenience of being able to work out when I want to work out and you can buy videos from them for training. I love it.

Awesome workout

3/29/2008 - Chris of California, USA writes:

People who say this product is cheap or say it feels like it will break when used have not used it. If you want a great workout at home this is the way to go. This gives a great quality workout if it is used right. You can do tons of exersises with this product, all of which are completely affective. The footprint of the machine when down is relatively big but you have to remember the machine folds up, so the area you keep it in needs to be at least 6x10 feet but when down but when up is takes up about 3x3 feet. I only have one complaint which is a small one, the weights are kind of hard to take off, they tend to get hung up on the other weights that are already on the machine. You do recieve alot of boxes when it is shipped but it is really easy to put toghether and only takes about 30 minutes at the most with 2 people. I can't say enough about this machine, it keeps me from the gym, it's that good!

Before you buy a Bowflex Revolution

12/24/2007 - Jay of California, USA writes:

While this machine would be great for those bouncing back from an injury, it is hardly a machine for someone who needs a serious workout. At lighter weights the machine performs ok but feels very fragile at it’s mid to upper end weight scale. The Bowflex Revolution in no way provides a "gym quality workout" especially at this hefty price tag. I love cable type workouts but the feel of this machine coupled with the cheep plates provided left me disappointed. One other example would be in order to do a leg press you need to reconfigure the machine and the bench feels like it could snap off. Also, expect long shipping delays and insurances for weeks that "it's on the way any day" from the sales staff. (Since this is considered a negative review, it has disappeared from many other review sites). This is one of the most over hyped products I’ve had the pleasure to test. 5/10 stars IMO.

Bowflex Revolution near perfect

12/24/2007 - Nicholas of North Carolina, USA writes:

I was looking for a universal gym that could be compressed into a small footprint and would offer a full body workout. I found it with this product. Admittedly, I may be more favorably inclined since I bought mine used, so I got it cheaper than advertised and already put together. As far as any complaints for its footprint, the website has an application that allows you precisely how the Revolution would fit into the room of your choice. Remember that it folds up, and folds up easily, and so when you are using that application think about how much space you need for when you'll be using it, and the space it will take up folded up. The biggest pro of the machine is the built-in leg press. Almost all other universals I looked at required a giant attachment for a leg press that was virtually a new machine unto itself. The second biggest pro is the even resistance throughout the range of motion - a feature the rod-style Bowflex products lack. If there is a con it is the lack of lat pulldown, a favorite exercise of many gym rats. Overall, it is just as advertised, which is why the price tag is what it is.

Excellent machine

2/10/2007 - Sean of Massachusetts, USA writes:

I was resistant to the idea of giving up my free weights, but my wife wanted to be able to work out at home so we compromised and bought this Revolution. I'm happy with it. It's easy to switch between exercises and there are an endless number of exercises you can do or invent. A few points that detract: 1. The shipping boxes aren't very well designed; almost all were beaten to pulp by UPS and I had to have several missing parts replaced. 2. The documentation has a shocking number of typos, mislabeled pictures, etc., they need a proofreader. 3. It is somewhat difficult to remove the tension plates. I've figured out the technique but my wife has lots of difficulty with it and thinks it's a fatal flaw. Overall I think it's a fantastic home gym and well worth the money.

It is a Revolution

11/26/2006 - Jim of Arizona, USA writes:

Purchased the Boewflex Revolution Aug 06. Comes in five boxes, a couple rather heavy, not unmanagable though. I put the revolution together in about two hours, by myself. Instructions are easy to follow and all parts arived safely. It is by far the best home gym of its type ever. Worth the price. Changing for one exercise to the next; no problem. The variations in exercises seems unlimited. Weight with the spiral flex plates is constant throughout the exercise. I also ordered the weight upgrade witch I would recommend for the leg press. It does require a large area to set up, however I would not trade mine for anything. This is a quality product. Not cheaply built like other home gyms I have used. Bowflex has a winner in this product.

Not Practical , to big, hard to use

4/19/2006 - Darwin of California, USA writes:

Arrives in five very heavy boxes. Takes all day to put together and is not easy to do so. The foot print is much larger than pictured in advertisments. Needs a huge area and is almost impossible to move. To change from one workout to another takes a lot of changing of equipment and time. Parts were missing.
