My husband has always wanted surround sound but our house was not wired for it when it was built. I thought the 3-2-1 system would be a good compromise to avoid all of the messy wires that we would have had if we had bought a surround sound system. It was very easy to hook up and takes up little space. The sound is definately an improvement from regular TV. Although it may not give the same effect as real surround sound it does sound very good. I also like the fact that you can play CDs, DVDs, and listen to the radio and not have 3 or 4 components sitting on top of the TV. I would reccomend this product to others.

I bought the 321 system in 2005 to go with my new plazma 52" TV. It is a piece of junk. Not really a surround sound system at all. No better than TV speakers. I called Bose and they sent me a "patch" CD to correct what they said were software problems. It did not help.

I got the Bose's® 3-2-1 system in 2005 to replace a Sony surround sound. My wife hated those wires running around the room to rear speakers. With speakers only in the front, I thought the 3-2-1 was my solution. It is NOT a surround-sound system! Re-reading the description I find it says, “enveloping sound“, what-ever that means. The AM-FM radio system is very good. The DVD player falls way short of expectations known in Bose products. When compared to functions available in stand-alone units, costing under $100.00, it fails to compete. The functions are very basic, Play, Pause, Stop, Fast Forward, Fast Reverse. Track/Chapter selection is acceptable. Setup is simple and well covered in the owner’s manual. The Bose sound for 2-channel sound is excellent, however if you are looking for surround-sound, do NOT buy this product. The price is five times the value, it should cost about $200.00 vice $1,299.99. I give it two stars, for being WAY OVER PRICED!

If you are like me, and need a unit for a small to medium space, and don't want to raise the ire of your spouse or girlfriend with 6 speakers all over the room, this product will fill that need, and produce quality sound in stereo and with surround sources. It plays all formats of DVD's and CD's even MP3. Set up is different than most, but not overwhelming. And the sound will surprise you, especially when playing a surround encoded source. It's not COMPLETELY like a 6 speaker system, but close enough to get enjoyment out of it, without littering your living room with speakers and wires. Perfect for apartments, or where space is limited. And as a bonus, it keeps the peace with someone who doesn't consider speakers and wires part of the "Decor"
