Alteril is part of a scam

12/24/2008 - Guy of CT, usa writes:

UPDATE: Yesterday I received another unauthorized packaged from the same outfit. Even after I told the salesman by phone that I did no want anything sent that I would need to pay for, without first having the opportunity to try the product to see if it work. The salesman said that he did not do any billing and that he would serve as my personal contact should there be any problem. I called his number a couple times, and his mail box was full. Also yesterday, I called my [] credit card to see if this had been billed. There is now a new charge on my account for $67.95. About 3-4 days ago I called the [] fraud department to lodge a complaint. They said that they would be sending me a form at once. They seem to be in no hurry, perhaps because they also profit from the money that they charge scam companies. I did try the Alteril sleep product a couple days ago, and I had a sleepless night. This product is overpriced, and perhaps like many other OTC sleep aid, they do not work for most people with serious sleep problems. My advice to readers would be to cancel your credit card immediately, so that no further scam billing from Alterial and their sister scam companies can be done on that card. I have not even opened the package that I received yesterday. I did call the company to complain about being shipped and billed for stuff that I did not order. The operator told me she took the product and it worked fine. She also said that my complaint would be reported to a supervisor and they would be calling me back.

Alteril sleep aid

12/19/2008 - Guy of CT, usa writes:

Alteril complaint to infomercialscams.com on 12/19/08 In response to a slick and credible TV ad for a completely free week's supply of the sleep aid Alteril, on 12/2, I called their 800 number. I was told that the product was completely free, and that they would also like to send me, also at no cost, samples of a weight lost products. But wait! I would need to pay the mailing cost which was only 97 cents. This minimal charge is made, I assume, in order to get access to credit card numbers. Actually their mailing cost was $2.03 per mailings, and I assume they quote the 97 cents price to prevent anyone from hanging up. In any case, I received both the sample product and a month's supply in two separated envelopes that both arrived on 12/16. This included paperwork showing a charge of $36.90, including a $6.95 shipping charge. The claim that clients are given a seven day period to try the product is in fact bogus. The products were both mailed by parcel post--one was dated 12/4 and the second was dated 12/11. Since I live in Connecticut, the parcel post delivery would normally take about a week from the CA address. My credit card statement shows that Alteril correctly billed 97 cents on 12/3, and then wrongfully billed my card $36,90 on 12/9. Obviously Alteril had no concern about the contract that was made on the phone. In my case there was zero days to try the product before the actual billing. On 12/16 I called Alteril to complain about the unauthorized shipment and billing that was made. I was told that this would be taken off my credit card and that they would discontinue my enrollment. Today 12/19, I called my credit card and found out that nothing had been deducted. I talked to the VISA fraud department and they are sending me a form that I will fill out. A couple days ago one of Alteril super salesman called me, to sell me on the idea of accepting some new and better weight reduction pill. I talked to him since I assumed that the fraudulent billing had been taking care of. I made it clear that I would not pay for any product without having the opportunity to try before buying. He insisted that he did no personal billing and that there would be no cost. Really? It's my understanding that client to not have a legal responsibility to pay, or spent costly time repackaging and returning stuff that they have not ordered.

Alteril? Beware!!

4/10/2008 - Rebecca of KY, USA writes:

Alteril did help me sleep but the nightmare of the company that cannot be reached kept me awake! Apparently, I am not alone in having problems cancelling the "automatic" $30+/month that was taken from my checking acct, even though I cancelled my orders 5+ times!
